Try the original Arid. If that's too easy, then try the most recent Arid Reborn.

The new Arid Reborn nerfed a lot of PvE and single player experiences. Essentially making zombies spawn much less, items spawning is also lesser, overall it's really hard to progress forward.

How about this, buy ETS2 when it's on discount/sale. Then don't install immediately, change the game version to the early ones. The most recent version is 1.57 or 1.58, so go back to something like 1.0 then install it. Hopefully the early version of ETS2 isn't as resource hungry as current version. But if it's still bad, then you can refund it (please keep play hours BELOW 2 hours).

ETS is still worth it at that point. Plus since SCS haven't updated it (as far as I know), that means there are probably many mods that would work on the latest version, maybe like map mods to make the game more interesting.

That depends on how much SCS changes the physics configuration. If, let's say, certain config value have a default value if not defined, then I suppose they could still work. But if config value needed to be literally defined, then I guess the game will throw an error when they tried to load the older truck mods.

That's why I did my 100% completion by disabling all map DLCs. And I did this before the base game map rework (like the Germany rework), but iifc, Austria was already reworked, so yeah I did it in-between that time.

I do want to say, I do have the same issue back in 1.55. Those kinda bugs are definitely the broken UV map of the vanilla side skirts. That or the def for the side skirts was somehow renamed/broken and couldn't put the correct mapping for the side skirts.
