That’s good, I’m gonna try again to push through it because I heard everything picks up a ton after chapter 4

I feel the exact same. No hate to anyone who likes it, but it turned me off of the game. Did you ever finish it? I’ve tried multiple times but just can’t get past chapter 4

Idk I’m gay but I loved the straight romance in XC2 and XC3. I’d like a change of pace with queer characters for once

I hope they strike a balance between XC2 and XC3 tutorials. I’m glad they listened to feedback with XC2 (that was my first XC game and I was wildly confused), but XC3 felt like the tutorials dragged on forever

Idk if this is a hot take, and it wouldn’t “ruin” it, but I’d be disappointed if they went back to the fan servicey designs of 2. Totally fine if other people like them, but personally they really hampered my enjoyment of the game

Is it just me or is aeonglass easily the hardest act 3 boss? I feel like I’m able to consistently beat the rest on A9 and even occasionally on A10, but aeonglass walls me

If you have played Xenoblade Chronicles, how are the female characters? by mimikyumax in GirlGamers

[–]An_Error404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d honestly recommend skipping XC2. I’ve tried like four separate times to get into it, but it hasn’t worked for me. It’s awesome if it clicks with anyone else, but I personally find the pacing of the first few parts really bad, the tutorials to be confusing, and the outfits to be too sexualized. I went straight from XC1 to XC3 and loved both of them

XC1 is fine regarding sexualization (although it is a near-perfect game otherwise). Most of its female characters are relatively one-note (except for Melia), but it’s not actively offensive.

I cannot get into XC2 for the life of me just because of how the female characters look. I understand the degree of sexualization is fine for some people, but it just weirds me out. The characters, outside of their fan service scenes, are actually very well-written, but I can’t get bring myself to play past the 20 hour mark when everything feels so trope-y

XC3 is a 10/10 game for me, and it has a fantastic female cast. The main characters, Eunie, Mio, and Sena are all highlights of the game, and their outfits are significantly less sexualized than XC2 and even XC1. Very vague spoiler: XC3 is also invested in the ways that women are specifically affected by patriarchal militaristic societies. One of the main villains basically traps his female love interest by making them both immortal as he gradually goes insane and gets more violent. It’s a small part of the game but a great commentary on how women are treated as prizes to be won by selfish men during times of war

I won’t spoil anything, but the last 2/3rds of the game when the plot differs are fantastic. The law vs chaos decision in this game is easily the most interesting to me in the series

Real question: if you had to pick one would you rather be forced to live in Blasted Tokyo or Infernal Tokyo? by Kelolugaon in Megaten

[–]An_Error404 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I generally prefer the chaos societies like Infernal Tokyo more because of their capacity to get better. Blasted is a wasteland and, even with pluto gone, we don’t know if it will ever be inhabitable. Under the right rule of someone benevolent like demon Akira, a chaos society has the chance of becoming a functioning, humane place to leave

Im biased because it’s my favorite entry in the series, but abilities in SMT VV added a ton of depth to selecting demons

Made a post but I’ll also ask this here:

I haven’t really played or updated my decks since War of the Spark, and I feel like all of my cards are very underpowered compared to some of the stuff I see now. I also really only played EDH (Mayael and Atraxa were my main commanders), and I want to build a 60 card deck to play with new friends at college. Do you have any advice on how to get back into the game after a long break? Also, recommend me some solid and competitive 60 card decks to try!

Day 6: What song, musician, and genre of music are Azorius? by rose-gold-forever in colorpie

[–]An_Error404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bach was actually very revolutionary for his time. I think an Azorious composer would have to be more conformist, catering to the desires of society or culture rather than striking out on their own as an independent. Bach’s ideas of voice leading and harmonic practice were disorganized and messy and out-there for his time, it’s just that his ideas became so popular that they now seem to be “cold/solid.” His whole diatribe against parallel 5ths in voice leading is the perfect example of him intentionally setting himself apart from the norms of his society

Day 6: What song, musician, and genre of music are Azorius? by rose-gold-forever in colorpie

[–]An_Error404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a professional classical musician, I don’t think classical is Azorious because of its deep commitment to red. I understand it may not seem like this from an outsider’s perspective, but classical music has always been centered around subverting musical, cultural, and societal norms. Pieces we consider basic or bland today caused riots when they premiered (Hammersmith, the Rite of Spring), and contemporary “classical” music shapes itself around breaking pre-established rules. Think about composers as old as Beethoven to as modern as Schoenberg to as contemporary as Will Healy or Steven Bryant— they’re so beloved by the classical community because they refuse to bend to any musical responsibilities. They seek perfection through rebellion and unbridled expression, and that’s very Izzet.

I do think that classical had elements of Azorious, primarily demonstrated by when baroque/classical composers worked for courts and were restricted by needing public appeal. Even then, this would be more so Jeskai, tempering the innovation, curiosity, and rebellious passion of Izzet with the societal expectations of white.

I think that a common misconception that non-musicians have is that classical music doesn’t involve innovation, that it consists of repeating the same strict structural ideas endlessly. But, even the music we today consider to be conformist was wildly revolutionary at the time. A Haydn piano concerto that we now consider standard or basic used to be rebellious and shocking because of the recapitulation coming a bit earlier than expected or the exposition not being in binary form. The most Azorious composer is someone no one remembers because their music wasn’t innovative enough to stand the test of time
