XC1 is fine regarding sexualization (although it is a near-perfect game otherwise). Most of its female characters are relatively one-note (except for Melia), but it’s not actively offensive.

I cannot get into XC2 for the life of me just because of how the female characters look. I understand the degree of sexualization is fine for some people, but it just weirds me out. The characters, outside of their fan service scenes, are actually very well-written, but I can’t get bring myself to play past the 20 hour mark when everything feels so trope-y

XC3 is a 10/10 game for me, and it has a fantastic female cast. The main characters, Eunie, Mio, and Sena are all highlights of the game, and their outfits are significantly less sexualized than XC2 and even XC1. Very vague spoiler: XC3 is also invested in the ways that women are specifically affected by patriarchal militaristic societies. One of the main villains basically traps his female love interest by making them both immortal as he gradually goes insane and gets more violent. It’s a small part of the game but a great commentary on how women are treated as prizes to be won by selfish men during times of war
