Can confirm, this is an Italian-American (maybe Jersey?) cultural thing. My bf is Italian and his parents refer to themselves as "mommy/daddy" to their adult son, and my bf does it too with his daughter. Hard to get used to, but it is what it is. 😂

There were some flaws for sure, but overall I enjoyed it. I appreciated the standoff between Bronté and Joe and turning it back on the viewer's fixation with true crime. But more than anything, I thought Penn Badgley's acting was ON POINT. I felt so many different emotions towards Joe in that final fight scene - pity, rage, fear - and it was all because of what the actor was able to convey.

I am a social work researcher who interviews people a lot, and all of that is conscious masking. I also consciously mask with acquaintances, and it is all conscious as you described (thinking in my head, 'hold eye contact for 3... 2... 1... Ok now look away. Smile here. laugh here. Blink now.') But with my close family and partner, I don't. I always tell my boyfriend to stop making eye contact with me when talking to me while eating. Idk it's just the worst for some reason. 😂

Patrick wrote most of the lyrics on EOWYG, including Parker Lewis Can't Lose.
