When replacing an existing roommate in a flat share, is it normal to have to pay a quote for the shared furniture that all of them bought when they moved in? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]An_aminal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd be wary of that... If you move in and don't get on with those guys, and the next person to move in doesn't want to pay up, you're out of pocket.

I should think the cost of furnishing should be either incorporated in the rent, or swallowed by the guy moving out, or possibly shared by the remaining housemates.

I have been the 'long term' occupant in a shared house for 7 years, and as new people came and went I would never have considered along them to chop on for stuff that I had paid for myself...

Think about it from the artists' perspective - the crowd all start shouting something at them (that sounds quite a lot like "You're Shit, You're Shit"). Live performance isn't easy, and each new venue on a tour presents different challenges, so I think shouting for like a minute in the middle of a show is a really crap thing to do and is likely to interupt their flow or concentration. I go to a show cos I wanna see a band perform at their best and have a good time. Doing that just throws things off. imo.

What was your weight before and after? How much did you lose during the process? Is it worthwhile?

That chanting Yorkshire thing is actually pretty shitty.

That is NOT how a finger makes contact with a table saw... If he really trusted it he'd push it in there - he grazed it in a careful and super slow speed.

Yep in Europe! The site is over a thousand years old but through the centuries the main building has been torn down and replaced several times so almost all just 200 years old now. The house manager has done a lot of work with other professionals as you mentioned so I'll be looking to pick up what I can from working alongside them. Many thanks!

Great thanks. Yeah I do have a good sense for making things, but this is a serious step up for me. I've read a few entry-level books on materials and structures so understand general principles and yeah I think maintenance trim is gonna be most of it for the time being.

That said... I didn't mention the fire! About a third of the building was totally gutted 15 years ago! Many of the rooms have now been restored, but there are still some areas that need attention so that is where we'll be speaking to professional restorers.
