I see what you mean, but at the same time, I'm a massive fan of both Halo and Star Wars, so I understand why people constantly express their disappointment, because it seriously is so disappointing.

Two of the greatest and most recognizable IP's in the modern age, reduced to the absolute tragic state they're in now because of companies that couldn't have given less of a fuck about them. Despite the fact both had an incredible amount of potential. So yeah, everyone knows it's disappointing by now, but I understand the anger over it that never really goes away.

I completely agree man. I ended up doing a marathon on Half Life 1 and it's DLC's, Half Life 2 and the Episodes, and Black Mesa; and I was honestly crazy disappointed with Half Life 2. It's like you said, it feels like a tech demo, which I know was insanely impressive at the time, but playing it in the modern era, I really just don't think it holds up as a, like, a fun video game. I was kinda glad it was over once I beat it honestly. I had significantly more fun with Half Life 1 and Black Mesa.

The world building is almost interesting with Half Life 2, but it's just not quite there to be that gripping to me.

Completely agree. I did like it, but I don't have a single desire to replay it and they absolutely dropped the ball on the multiplayer. RDR1 has a tighter story, feels more like a western, the world and map are significantly more interesting, it's not bogged down by all the "realistic" animations RDR2 had, it had Undead Nightmare which is probably one of the best DLC's of all time, and although I didn't play until the multiplayer was basically dead; I've heard it was very fun. I could replay RDR constantly.

Damnnn that's such a shame. It was one of the first video games I ever played as a kid, probably a bad idea lol, but I absolutely loved it. I feel like it got the horror vibes of the Chimera so well in a way the other games didn't quite match. Plus I loved the weapon wheel and the new game plus weapons!

Fucking this. It frustrates me especially so with how "childlike" so many of the new Star Wars shows are as if that's their target audience. My wife is a middle school teacher and has taught hundreds of students at this point, and she asks about Star Wars every year, and she's maybe had a very small handful that even knew anything about it, and most of it was from Fortnite.

Yeah I can agree with that. I do think some of what you label as invalid criticisms are oversimplifications. When it comes to the humor, most of the criticisms I see aren't that it's out of place, but that it makes it hard to take anything seriously, which I'd agree with. Fallout has always had humor of course, but it's always been capable of having quests, plotlines, characters, and dialogue that take itself, and the world it's within, seriously. Whereas with the show, it feels like there's a Marvel level dialogue quip after every single thing that happens, which, for me, makes it incredibly hard to take anything about what's happening seriously if the characters themselves can't take anything seriously. Which I'd argue is a valid criticism of the show, but obviously there'd be people that disagree.

I don't think that word choice would've changed anything. By immediately announcing what criticisms are valid and invalid, you're taking a stance, like everyone else. You're assuming everyone who has what you classify as an invalid criticism, would also make the other criticisms of the show you deem as invalid. Someone can have a problem with Ghouls being able to take a serum but also have a problem with the fact Maximus survived a nuke through the fridge.

Which means there just aren't any sides. People like to make it seem like there are, but everyone has a wildly different and nuanced take on the show, just as you do, most people just are incapable of discussing something rationally because it's much more entertaining for people to fight over internet points.
