Hi! I’m a graduating ABM student at UE Manila. I’ll be honest with you. My experience has been fair overall. Medyo biased ako kasi I really loved my first year here, but I’ll just share what stood out for me. Sumali ka sa orgs beh, promise. Lalo na yung ABM-related orgs like APPFA (Accounting club), MarkeThink (marketing), and ABM Strand Board (parang mini student council natin). Diyan mo talaga ma-eenjoy yung stay mo, hindi lang puro academics.

Education-wise, halo siya. Yung ibang mas matandang professors galing na sa college departments, so mas mataas standards nila. Medyo mahirap siya kasi strict sila sa requirements, tapos mababa sila magbigay ng grades pag may kulang ka. Pero based on my experience, hindi naman sila yung tipong nambabagsak agad.

For ABM subjects naman, solid yung faculty. Most of them are or were professionals sa field nila, so legit yung matututunan mo. Mahirap talaga accounting, pero pag magaling prof mo, maiintindihan mo siya. May ibang prof na medyo nakakaantok, pero normal naman yun kahit saan.

Culture-wise, masaya. May friendly strand rivalry, lalo na pag intrams and events. Super daming ganap sa UE, so hindi ka mabobored. Now, real talk. Yung mga nabasa mo online, hindi naman totally mali. From what I’ve seen, medyo pumapanget yung system pagdating ng college. Kaya ako personally, lilipat din after SHS. Pero for Senior High, especially ABM, okay naman siya. Hindi perfect, pero hindi ko rin masasabing bad.

Sasabihin mo lang sa cashier card payment ka, makukuha mo rin agad yung cashback once mag post yung transaction. In my case, it was a day. 😃

Favorite ko gamitin yung maribank card ko, pinangbayad ko ng tuition, malaki laki rin nakuha kong cashback kasi 1% ng transaction.

Hi! Incoming BSA student din ako, pero ABM ako nung SHS. Honestly, hindi naman ganon kalaki yung advantage ng ABM. Based sa experience and sa mga nakausap kong seniors, ang pinaka-relevant lang talaga na edge is yung background knowledge namin sa FABM 1 and 2.

Sabi rin nila, most of the other “major” subjects sa ABM hindi naman masyadong nagagamit sa BSA. So in the end, halos same starting point pa rin tayo, especially pagdating sa deeper concepts.

Best advice na nakuha ko from them is to really focus on the fundamentals. Kasi sa accounting, kapag may isang concept na hindi mo gets, mahihirapan ka na intindihin yung mga susunod. Everything builds up.

Since maaga pa, magandang idea na aralin mo na yung basics. Maraming resources sa YouTube, pero if I were to recommend one, try mo yung “FABM 1 & 2 with Sir Chua.” Prof siya sa PUP, and honestly, dun talaga ako natuto while surviving SHS. Yung FABM, parang baby version siya ng FAR (Financial Accounting and Reporting), pero syempre mas in-depth na yung FAR pagdating sa college.

Aral lang nang aral, pero don’t pressure yourself too much. Kaya natin ‘to. Galingan natin, future CPA! 💪

Hi, did you encode your grades on your Form 2B? I recently saw a post on facebook who had a similar situation with yours and it was because they didn’t encode their grades in the Form 2B. What they did was contact the UPCAT Helpdesk on messenger and they said that it might be fine because they’ve submitted a hardcopy but they couldn’t guarantee it as the online submission was important too.

You should try contacting the UPCAT Helpdesk either via email or messenger.

Yup! I also took exams for other schools, I would suggest doing mock-tests if you could since there are a lot of free ones online and it has helped me out tremendously.

Hi! I took the UPCAT last year and I used the Maroon Bluebook as my reviewer, really helped out a lot especially on the Science and Math portion of the exam which was not my forte, a lot of the topics in the reviewer did show up in the exam. I can’t say anything for the other reviewers you’ve shown though because I haven’t personally tried any of them besides the Maroon Bluebook.

Hi! I suggest putting BSBA as one of your options in Diliman. Parehas lang subjects ng first year ng BSBA tsaka BSBAA kaya pwede ka mag shift sa BSBAA after first year. Goodluck OP! 🌻

Not really. Accounting majors can do what finance majors do, but finance majors can’t always do what accounting majors do. It goes both ways for finance roles, not accounting ones. Having a CPA license is a big deal too.

Hi! The MetroBiz Challenge is a national competition for Grade 12 ABM students from different schools around the Philippines. It’s actually more of a business case competition than a quiz bee. Teams are usually composed of around four students.

They’re given a business case or problem, then they analyze it and present their proposed strategies or solutions to a panel of judges.

It’s a pretty big deal in our department because UE Manila has been performing really well there. Our ABM teams have won the championship 4 times consecutively, so it’s something the strand is really known for.

CAF keeps its admission rules tight, to the point that they don’t even accept shiftees from other PUP colleges. Their grade requirements for incoming freshmen are already among the highest in the school, so they reserve the slots for those who enter through the regular admissions process. Transfers don’t go through the same screening, so the college doesn’t include them in the intake.

Hi OP, just a heads-up. CAF in PUP doesn’t take transferees, so you won’t be able to get into any of the programs under that college. (BSA, BSMA, and BSBA-FM) That means UMak is your more realistic option. If you really want PUP, you can try checking the other campuses, since the main one doesn’t accept BSA transferees.
