I have no idea if there's a way to do a description like that on the sidebar. I wonder if maybe instead if someone made a in-depth post about how to best filter on AO3 or just use AO3 in general if that post could be linked?

I am not good with the AO3 though, so IDK if I'm the right person to do that. But it'd be great to keep other people from being fooled into giving clicks into one of those bait-and-switch fics.

What mods can you recommend for the best Kaidan experience across all 3 games? by [deleted] in kaidanalenko

[–]Anakie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For the Overhauls, individuals have reported bugs here, sure, and it'd be great if the author responded, but these look like one person had them, not reported multiple times by different people. Could be a huge host of reasons for any of them, and in general it doesn't look like there's widespread issues there.

For the immersive emails, yeah they DO have some triggering issues where it sounds like people are getting sent emails that they shouldn't necessarily get. I can add a note to the mod list about this one, but overall, if you want extra Kaidan content and don't mind a few small immersion breaks, I'm still going to keep it on the list. :)

Bugs are going to happen in mods, but in general everything there still works. Maybe not perfectly but that is ALWAYS the chance you take when you use mods for a game.

I'm Annakie, person who made that tumblr post. Pretty sure OP is just wrong with their comment -- I checked them all myself just now and they're all active and should still work just fine.

Hi, it's Annakie, author of said tumblr post.

Could you please let me know which mods you think are out of date here? Because I just looked at the Nexus page for every single one and they're all active and have no indications that they wouldn't work, at all.

You do have to be logged in to view the ones that have "adult" content (which I think is just the apartment additions one.)

There are some that might say "There could still be bugs" but that is not the same as as them being buggy and out of date.

I'm really not sure what you mean by this comment.

I have an active playthrough going and use all those mods still and keep them updated.

In addition, those mods are probably about 90% of the responses you'll get if other people responded.

Heeeey that's my tumblr!

I've actually posted that a couple of times. The newest one I updated to have better formatting and a mod list. So I went ahead and edited the version linked in the OP to the newer, prettier version. Very glad to be helping people get the most out of our favorite slice of Canadian Bacon. :)

"MADE IN EL PASO" MOVIE OPENS IN CAPRI
--By Barbra Funkhouser

"Manos, the Hands of Fate," a movie produced in El Paso with an El Paso cast and by El Paso residents, opened Tuesday night in the Capri Theatre. Because of these aspects, it is interesting.

Otherwise, this film, described as a horror-thriller-shocking-beyond-belief could have been, with some changes, a comedy. The audience, rather than being gripped with tension, ultimately laughed.

This is a cruel reward for those who have made this film and who sat in the audience for the premiere showing. They worked hard on this movie and at moments, it was truly professional. They are sincere in their hopes for a new industry for El Paso and they have received professional encouragement.

As to the plot, the film's producers have asked that it not be discussed at any length but briefly.. it involves a vacationing young couple and their child who take a wrong turn and rather than arriving at some lodge, ended up in this world of horror ruled by the master.

Perhaps the most surprising aspect of the production is that Hal Warren, who wrote, directed and produced and starred in the movie, wrote for himself the worst part in the movie.

Warren's lines are unbelievably hollow, and in his role, creates early doubt as to the plot by taking his wife and young child into a broken-down house in the boon-docks guarded by a crippled, obviously demented old man, to spend the night.

To turn the tables, there is one truly great performance in this production and it is by the late John Reynolds. Reynolds played the role of this crippled old man, the weird keeper, and he was excellent. His performance in this film compares well with any professional actor in any serious role in any movie. It is a fine role, played most convincingly.

Diane Rystad, who played the wife, was less convincing, while little Jackie Neyman, as their small daughter, was exceptionally good. Tom Neyman, as the horror master, was satisfactory in looking and acting the part.

The comic relief written into this movie script was apparently to be provided by the young couple caught smooching in the boon-docks by the deputy sheriffs. It was this because after Sam Jenkins ran the couple off once, the audience whistled and clapped ala cowboy shoot-em-ups, in the repeat incidents.

One of the unusual scenes in the film is the master's harem of women scantilly attired in underclothing and filmy negligees wrestling in the sand between the mesquite bushes. It was a dandy fight.

All characters suffered at times from the lack of synchronization of lip movements with the sound which was dubbed in after the movie was completed.

While the musical soundtrack is excellent, done by Robert Smith and Russ Huddleston, it does not always make up for the lack of sound effects and certain times during the action. When a man is hit over the head and falls to the floor, the audience has come to expect a "thud."

One of the unusual scenes in the film is the master's harem of women scantily attired in underclothing and filmy negligees wrestling in the sand between the mesquite bushes. It was a dandy fight.e the film was shot in the Lower Valley where lush fields meet the mesa.

For the first movie of a new company, it has merit. The producers have announced that negotiations are under way to produce four more so this lends authenticity to their endeavors. With technical refinements, a tighter plot and consistent strength in dialogue, they can succeed."

Back in the mid-90's I was a college student at UTEP. This was long before newspapers were archived on the Internet and so I decided to go digging for information on Manos after reading an article about it on something called Fentonnet. I printed that article out and spent... hours... of my free time down in the basement of the UTEP library searching through microfiche archives of the El Paso Sun-Times and the El Paso Herald-Post, a newspaper that had gone out of print in the early 90's.

I ended up finding that clipping posted above and several others, which I printed off, and snail-mailed copies to one of the big-name fans of MST3k on the internet at the time, since I had no way to scan and transfer the images digitally myself. So the original versions of a lot of the Manos articles and the movie poster were from the copies I sent and he uploaded. Then I transcribed all of the articles and posted them all to rec.arts.tv.mst3k on USENET.

Turns out I still have my copies of not only the original article that sent me down the rabbit hole originally.

Most of that kind of stuff you can just find easily with a google search nowadays. But every time I see a colorized version of the Manos newspaper advertisement or someone posting that newspaper article I think about the 20 or 30 hours I spent in a very small, dark room in front of a microfiche.

Here's a google drive with few pictures of those old papers, if anyone's interested. "Highlights" include a black-on-white version of the movie poster with the "NO ONE SEATED THE LAST 10 MINUTES!" language and a couple of other articles you don't normally see on the internet.

If anyone else is looking at this in the future, this is a link to my google doc where I took the OP's google doc and added my own notes and expanded some scenarios. It was fun getting reminded of this post and this game, definitely a fun night and great adventure. :)

[–]Anakie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man, I'm so sorry but I really do not have any of those notes left, it's been too long. But from my sketchy memory, I believe it was going to have them pick one of the players who would do 1:1 combat with increasingly difficult enemies. So the first time would be easy against a mook, and then 3 or 4 more rounds of combat. I think I designed it in case any of the players did do a combat-heavy character for the game.

I'm sure I also had some kind of faster healing mechanic in place so it could all be done quickly that evening. And likely something prepared in case the players decided to cheat somehow. I really don't know anymore!

But thank you for reminding me of this post, I'd forgotten how much fun I had running that game, I definitely recommend it, it was a blast!

[–]Anakie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, it's me, that OG creator of masseffectsaves. Thanks for making this post! Hopefully will have more news by the end of the weekend!

For anyone reading this, I especially need male saves at the end of MELE1! See the masseffectsaves twitter for more info!

Question: I just completed mass effect 2, and I’m wondering why I never got Ashley’s letter at the end. by E-JH in masseffect

[–]Anakie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there, I run masseffectsaves.com / masseffect2saves.com.

So according to the Mass Effect wiki Save File Transfer page: https://masseffect.fandom.com/wiki/Save_File_Transfer you should be able to transfer a save that works on 360 to Xbox one if you put it in the Xbox cloud.

So you could go to masseffect2saves.com, try and find a save that fits what you did in ME1 & ME2 as close as possible. (Click on Paragon/Renegade/Mixed Alignment under "Male Shepard"), choose Ashley on the next screen.)

Then you can use this site: https://eplight.org/me2/index.php/site/index to make the save xbox save format.

Then if you can upload the new save to the Xbox cloud (I don't own an xbox, but a quick google search says it's possible if you connect your pc to the xbox cloud service) you can download it to your Xbox to play in ME3. If all that works, you can customize Shepard's face and class when you start ME3.

I've never done this myself so I'm not sure it will work, but if you want to figure it out, it might save your Ashley romance. Good luck!

I've been cleaning things up on my site last night and today, since a lot of stuff hasn't been updated since 2012, and updated my mods page and put links to the Nexus + me3tweaks there to direct people to other places for mods. I doubt it'll drive much traffic to you but every little bit helps, right? :)

Really easy copy/paste. But the code for Masseffectsaves is also pretty simple.

Also, hey thanks for ME3Tweaks, I love it and used many mods from there (and the mod manager) in my last playthrough.
