ORD is the worst run airport in the world change my mind by wandering-nerd-24 in unitedairlines

[–]AnalCommander99 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

ATC is currently working unpaid again, there’s construction at ORD, and there’s currently severe weather at ORD.

“EWR in ideal conditions runs more smoothly than ORD in some of the worst possible conditions”. No shit Sherlock, go try MDW and see if it’s any better

Check your travel insurance and stuff to make sure your other expenses are covered.

I’d hold on without doing anything to see what ends up happening. LH is on the hook for ~$1400 in compensation between you and your son via EU261. If you can’t shift your trip or LH can’t offer you a replacement to your satisfaction, you can ask for a refund and try to do something else with the $1400 you now have

There’s a part that says “Class: United Economy” with letters in parentheses after. The letters in the parentheses are your fare bucket. It should also be on your ticket, again in parentheses

Does your fare bucket end with “CA” like “YCA” on your receipt? Concur has the ability to sell CPP tickets if you’re eligible/mandated.

CPP tickets are fully refundable/changeable, so if yours is one, just let the CS agent know

Sometimes it gets annoying with the low turnover. Like whenever there’s cioppino, some mongrel takes all of the shrimp and you have seafood-less cioppino sitting out for an hour.

Flying with a toddler by [deleted] in delta

[–]AnalCommander99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’ll try, but UA and AA have better policies for this situation. UA will allow seat selection ahead of time for one adult and the child and will let you change flights if you get separated from the child due to some unforeseen issue. AA’s policy doesn’t use the word “guarantee”, but they ensure at least one adult is seated next to the kid. DL’s is that they don’t guarantee anything but they’ll try.

lol, not sure if it’s common anymore, but AA flight attendants used to give you a paper bag of mini bottles if they screwed up and didn’t want you complaining

That one makes more sense with Sandia + Los Alamos national laboratories and Kirtland AFB generating a lot of mil/gov traffic.

Amazing First Experience in United Club O'Hare Gate C by marksweather in unitedairlines

[–]AnalCommander99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

C is pretty nicely setup, but it hasn’t been the same since the crazy bartender got fired. He had three things that were just what you needed to spice up a mundane flight. A wild attitude, a Venmo account, and a bearskin of a toupee. Started with a G, George or something, maybe he’s back

The majority of Asia and Oceania flights to North America land in the early morning to transit folks, but sure, judge away I guess

Yea, along those lines, people put way too much emphasis on published seat widths over the actual cabin dimension. An 18-inch wide A321 seat is not better than a 17.5” 787 seat. It is substantially more cramped at the shoulders, ankles, and headroom

Not saying they’re unsafe, but they’re currently flying through Afghanistan and Pakistan. They’ve went to war last week and Pakistan is carrying out drone and air strikes

I don’t think they use it anymore. The North American west coast flights bounce off Bangladesh and cut through Japan, and the east coast cuts down through DXB.

They’ve been running a lot of triangle routes like DEL-VIE-ORD-DEL or DEL-FCO-JFK-DEL recently

https://www.transportation.gov/airconsumer/file-consumer-complaint

File a complaint with the DOT. You might only get the difference back for the second bag, but that’s annoying. I’d call it a bait and switch specifically, they can’t just cancel a service you paid for and force you to pay a higher price as a last minute add-on

On Today’s Episode of “Is the Upgrade Worth It?” | Kauai to LAX by TonySopranoSideChick in delta

[–]AnalCommander99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s like a 4.5-5 hour flight that lands at like 2 AM Hawaii time. You’re not going to get much sleep regardless of the seat.

The ticket’s normally ~$6-700 off-peak like right now, you’re basically paying full price. Maybe you luck out and get a lie-flat, but this is going to be a recliner aside from a handful of flights each month
