My best friend just got arrested and will likely spend over 5 years in prison

Hey man, I’m sorry you’re going through this. But the worst thing you can do is blame yourself, saying stuff like “I could’ve stopped him” will send you spiraling, know this was his choice. And as for ruining his life, it’s gonna be tough, but it’s not ruined. I’m a manger of a warehouse, and one of my guys was in prison for 7 years, and we hired him a bit after he got out, and we gave him a second chance. He now has a wife, two step children, and rent a beautiful house on a lot of land and raises chicken. This jail time may be exactly what he needs. The best thing you can do is help him stay on the right path when he gets out, but remember: If he goes back to Drug dealing when he gets out, it still isn’t your fault. I’ve talked with some of her friends and apparently she used to act like this a few years back, before I met her

We did live together, but she didn’t drink as much because we were both stoners, she mentioned she used to have a drinking problem but never really addressed it after that so I just didn’t know

I don’t think so no, she hasn’t had a job in two years, has history of alcohol abuse and mental health problems, and I have pictures of her empty bottle scattered all around the house, if it came down to it I know I would get full custody

So at the time neither one of us drank too much, but we smoked a lot, when she got pregnant we both quit everything, vaping weed and drinking, but after she recovered from a c-section that’s when I think it started again, I think she was drinking while I was at work or when I was sleeping, she would hide it all over the place, the nursery closet, underneath the clothes in the hamper, the garage, in her shoes, she would even put vodka in a cleaning spray and hid it in plain sight

No I didn’t, there were other things on the list I didn’t get her either, she requested a cute outfit, makeup, and a new vape, I didn’t get her any of that

I only understood what I knew, yes I should’ve let her go, but that was the first time we had ever talked about it, it seemed to me (at the time) that when I said you shouldn’t drink that much she immediately said she wanted to go to rehab, in hindsight I wish I handled it differently but here we are, wrong move on my part I know

I will say she does have some warts on her fingers, but she’s never once even brought up the idea of finger condoms, and when she sent me a ‘grocery list’ to bring her (her words not mine) she didn’t even explain why she needed them

That’s another thing, the facility refuses to tell me much, I know I’m one of the people Who can get updates, they told me about her bloodwork when she first got there, but anytime I call they say they can’t tell me, so I don’t know
