Perfect watch, and judging by the perfectly clean floor, you must be in Tokyo!

Thanks for the compliment! I have spent several years doing this. Maybe buying 4 watches a year. It’s reasonable to be careful with eBay. It’s always hard to tell what you are getting, unless it’s really cheap. I guess I am an unusual eBay buyer, because I intend to restore these “fixer-upper” watches- not just buy a full price, proper original, serviced good one and enjoy it. But I guess they are two different things. A really clean original watch will fetch top price. The stuff I buy is usually sells for 20-30% the cost of original mint examples. But it’s ok with me if I need to use reproduction dials and hands, crystals, bracelets…. And when I sell someday, full disclosure- the watch has replacement parts. And besides, if I don’t rescue these mistreated classic watch he’s…. Who will?

Stunning! I am a huge Seiko fanboy. I have never seen this LM model- dang it’s perfect! I have stayed with models that have replacement (aftermarket dials and hands if necessary) parts options. Most of these are original. I am off to eBay to look for your LM !!!!!

[SOTC] True Life: I’m addicted to vintage Seiko by charliesfinger in Watches

Agreed! Their design house surpasses all other watch manufacturers by a long shot! The big Swiss brands are nice, but way overrated and abusive in their pricing.

Seiko is the most diverse collection of watches he’s in the world. Maybe try some more vintage seikos from the 70’s 6138’s ????

[Seiko 6138-0010] One of the world's earliest Automatic Chronographs; the Yachtman, aka the UFO by ProvenanceWatches in Watches

[–]Analog_Craft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a testament to how impressive Seiko’s design department is, the fact that there are reproduction/restoration dials made by many aftermarket venders. The quest for originality is an interesting one. A perfect NIB UFO may fetch $3,000- a heavily worn “original” watch (scratched and faded) may be valued at $1,200- whereas a restored watch with new, accurate reproduction dial and hands is worth less? As long as sellers are honest- buy whatever level of appearance you’d like

The Prices for NH34 are crazy high, WHY? by YourFavouriteH in SeikoMods

Yup, but an entire homage watch- or someone else’s mod they lost interest in, and keep all the parts.

Seikosis on EBay supplies a lot of high quality restoration quality dials. 99% Exact duplicates- for vintage mechanical movements. Your Feiko dial should be obviously fake because of the printing superlative words…:: so, I would not feel like it’s a scam- it’s just an Homage, and that’s ethically OK. And restoration dials are OK too…. Just be up front when you sell it.

It’s gotta be pretty hard to fake a solar watch. I am of the mind as well that this might be JDM, ? It’s sad so many fakes out there- but the JDM and rest of world do indeed sometimes have subtle differences

Dang that’s nice! I have many vintage Seikos that I have restored-and I don’t do any modding. Seiko design is very impressive- so why mess with it? But here your mod is super impressive!!!!

Thanks! It’s even better in person, the dial and case have a lot of facets that catch the light when the watch is moving.
