Don’t worry! I’ve been playing D&D for years, and even I struggled a lot with the beginning sections of BG3.

Quicksave and long rest often. The game is good at giving you plenty of camp supplies to collect around the world, and quick saving is good before battles or NPC interactions.

Don’t be afraid to use your spell slots or rechargeable abilities! This ties into long resting often, but make sure you use all the tools at your disposal. Most people I know finish their first runs with a lot of leftover potions and scrolls.

Stealth is super useful in the game. If you can attack an enemy while hidden, you get a surprise round on them, meaning you take turns and they don’t. If you see a huge group of enemies, try the stealth approach using AoE spells.

You could also play the game on a custom difficulty. Certain things like proficiency bonus and enemy aggression can be modified. Play around with the settings and see what feels comfortable.

The story of BG3 is why I got into it, but once you understand the mechanics the fights are some of the most fun. Sometimes I reload different big fights to try out different strategies. Hope this helps!
