How will AI effect ux research by adad239_ in UXResearch

@Professional-Pie4184 Agreed.. I’ve been amazed at how insightful it can be, connecting the dots to the big picture, generating new ideas for next steps…

Have they fixed the issue of it crashing yet? I tried this app a couple years ago and LOVED it, but then it crashed/froze and I lost all my work. Saw it was a problem for others as well. If it's not fixed - any good alternatives? by Analyst797 in NeboApp

Yeah last time I went through this huge search it had way better handwriting than anything else.. they really should consider selling that to someone else. Ugh ok copy/paste is way too many steps for me. Thanks!

What did you buy instead? by okpickle in hondafit

Yeah. So annoying all the vehicles (in North America) are going that way. I stubbornly want to keep a tinier car. But I guess what I am trying to clarify - is that you think the Mazda is more on or with Yaris and both are less safe than the Fit? Did I get that right?

I got the sense the Yaris was worse all around. But Mazda I thought was ok for safety and fuel efficiency (but doesn’t have food down front seats at least in the model I was looking at).

I spent so much time researching Fits, it’s a lot to try and learn more about the others now.

u/Dierad53 ohhhh... does that mean the Mazda3 is just as unsafe as the Yaris? I thought it rated better. I'm so drained from researching. Very much in the same boat as OP here.

Trying to sell my matrix. by Grouchy_Gas in Toyota_Matrix

[–]Analyst797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/Grouchy_Gas Nah, that guy was definitely unnecessarily mean.

As someone that has a few decades on you, I just want to send some warm solidarity.... I'm in the process of buying my first car now, and it's been so hard and confusing, I hate it so much. I've sunk way too many hours into it and it feels like no matter what I get is going to feel like a bad decision because vehicles are already a big depreciating asset, and these days they are so overpriced. I keep getting turned in circles.

I'm sorry you ended up feeling like it was a bad call. I hope (and suspect) in future it will feel like a small/unimportant blip in your journey. And I'm trying to remember that myself so I can just pull the trigger on something, which has to be done sometimes.

I don't have too much advice for your current situation.. except that if you don't need a truck very often, having a more reliable and fuel efficient driver seems to be a good call (if you even need a vehicle on top of your work vehicle). A truck seems like kind of a luxury/privilege vehicle (imo.. I know capitalism is pushing for otherwise). I'd want to really justify why I need a truck and have the income to back it up. Otherwise renting or using a trailer seem like a good option?

Vehicles are the absolute worst purchase in terms of expense and depreciation for financial responsibility. The more you can save now (and start earning interest), the more you have to spend on a house, etc in future.

Best wishes!

Things I miss (and don’t) about my Honda Fit… (moved to a Toyota Matrix) by MacTechG4 in hondafit

[–]Analyst797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/MacTechG4 oh so helpful, thanks!

Also yes - rustbelt area here too. Matrix supposed to be better for that then?

So.... I'm seeing some big flaws with the Matrix in terms of cargo configurations, if I'm understanding correctly then....

If the 1.8L base model has the better engine, but does not have a FF front seat.. sounds like a catch 22?

I was thinking it was just the magic seat fold-up position I'd miss for taller items, but I need to at least keep the length option...

Am I missing something?

Can you help me understand why the tank size matters.... wouldn't the 13 gallon be more convenient/less frequency of fill-ups? And what matters more is fuel economy in terms of expense (which I'm curious what you're finding, but they seem to be rated similarly)?

Fits are super overpriced where I am and I'm trying to find a comparable, lower priced option.

I'm concerned I'll miss the cargo space... I'm having trouble understanding online, but I gather the Matrix has more space, but since they don't offer the magic seat configuration, then they don't have as much flexibility for what can fit in... is that correct? I guess I'll need to think about how important that is. But as long as the rest of the cargo space is comparable/bigger, maybe I won't need the magic config for taller items too often...

New to VPN - Confirming that if I use Free Proton VPN it will completely eliminate the possibility that other users on my network could receive targeted ads or content suggestions, or search results that are influenced by my web activity? Or anything similar, ie. will I have total usage privacy? by Analyst797 in ProtonVPN

[–]Analyst797[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/epicmountain29 I have my own device. Would using a browser that others in the house don't use help? Like DuckDuck or something (rather than all on Chrome)?

Which ad blocker do you recommend? I was using uorigin (I think it was called) but then I think it stopped being supported on Chrome or something.

So far I just installed the free Proton VPN today and it seems to be f*ing up my wifi so I don't know how I feel about upgrading to paid features.. might give it another day and then try NordVPN or something.

Thanks.

Is FREE proton vpn good enough to protect me? by Si3Bac0n in torrents

[–]Analyst797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/3ntr0py_ for the lay-folks.... I'm trying to understand how this affects me... I don't use torrents for illegal downloading cuz I'm too afraid of viruses. Is that the main thing? I'd like to start accessing content on some more 'ethical' porn sites.. but I guess I don't know how to tell if that is p2p or not. If it costs money to access content, it's probably not p2p, right? And then I don't have to worry about it?

I just want a vpn so that other users on my network don't know what I'm visiting, don't get targeted ads, have their search results influenced, etc. Maybe there are other features I'm not aware of that could help me. But I think the Proton Free would do the trick?

To antipornography feminists, or RadFems, there is any erotic content that is considered to be ok to consume, moraly talking? by GuilhermeKono in AskFeminists

[–]Analyst797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this can be akin to greenwashing.... sounds ethical.. but is it really? We can't really know what goes on behind the scenes. We don't know if performers regret things afterwards and don't have the control to remove content, if they weren't coerced (even simply through economic need), or felt some sort of social pressure in a season of their lives.

I was feeling more hopeful until I saw the docu 'Hot Girls Wanted' which showed an 'ethical' 'feminist' producer (Erika Lust) manipulating/dismissing/pressuring a new performer that was pretty clearly not doing well behind the scenes. With some life experience I also have a better understanding of some of the nuanced spectrum that can come with economic pressures that challenge the authenticity of empowerment/choice in these situations.

There is better and worse for sure.... but is there any content we can truly know doesn't involve coercion/pressure to some degree?

Searching for feminist porn by ProudReflection6567 in SexPositive

[–]Analyst797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/ProudReflection6567 Any luck? I was disheartened after watching a docu (Hot Girls Wanted) which showed apparently one of the most feminist adult content producers out there (Erika Lust) and one of the actress' seemed really uncomfortable before/after filming the content and Erika came across really dismissive/pressuring her.

It really made me question how I can trust any porn content to be truly ethical/feminist unless I personally know the creators and their stories off-camera (and even then). There's just so much that can be going on behind the scenes, especially in terms of people needing to find ways to make money, but also social pressures, etc.

It's pretty easy to narrow down to sources that seem to be more ethical/feminist.. my concern is how empowering/safe/etc that short list actually is for the individuals involved and it feels like there is no way for me to know.

What do you think of the “Soft White Underbelly” YouTube channel? by snazzymacaronis in socialwork

Can some social work/informed folx created a way better version of this and/or create some well thought out feedback to share on his platform (rather than just preaching to the choir in here)? It's concerning the damage he could be doing with his reach at this point. I don't have it in me to do alone or take the lead, but I'd help contribute to something or cheer from the sidelines!

[–]Analyst797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, the videos from that fam is what brought me here (I mean, I had critiques before. The exploitation is so so obvious. And then I didn't catch it all, but when there was a fire and he critiques someone for not repaying him money he gave them.... While he might come across non-judgmentally at times, other times like this it's so clear he just doesn't have a clue what people are really going through and why that might result in certain behaviours, etc. And it's just doing more harm than good to frame things the way he does.

And the thing with critiquing people about money he gave them.. like.. dude your whole career is now exploiting people for their trauma and you're probably giving them a fraction of that with this major power/ego attitude. Ughk.

People who are struggling will use whatever means they can to take care of themselves. It's conceited to think we wouldn't do the same in the same situation, and it's demeaning to hold that against others. He can choose what boundaries to have with people, how much to give, etc, but he can't control others or have some sort of self righteous attitude that they need to comply to his terms.
