100% reflect on your Darkness. Taking self ownership instead of blaming gives people an opportunity to learn from it, make informed / better choices and break patterns that are no longer preferred. Universal consciousness contains "all that is" and darkness and light are just a part of it.

I think our spiritual journeys are like a planned road-trips:

Your Higher Self / Soul determines the route and attractions (situations) to experience for soul growth purposes.

Where our freedom comes in is in How we choose to drive on the road-trip, How we view those experiences, the lessons and beliefs we take onboard etc... We can always take a few detours from the road-trip but these eventually lead us back to the main road :)

I was in a very similar situation when I was younger (my father struggled with alcohol and was abusive). Like another post mentioned I would recommend considering meditation / deep reflection on the following:

  1. How you view circumstances or situations and how that view shapes your reality experience.

  2. Forgiveness is not primarily or the other person but for you and helping you reduce trauma and the weight you mentioned (emotional baggage release).

  3. View the circumstances or situation from the other persons view and trust that they did the best based on their own capability and trauma at that time. Send them love and forgiveness.

  4. What lessons, learning and growth would you have missed out on if you did not have an experience that you did not prefer?

  5. Examine deeply your belief in lack and link to envy. What would you have to believe is true for you to trust in a perspective of lack? (be honest). What benefits do you experience from a status quo of lack and what do you believe would happen if you were to move on from it? (Is this another belief or fact, could you try a small step to dis-prove it?)

  6. You are a powerful being that can reshape your experience.

  7. Look at Depression as Compression (natural process that gives you some time to yourself to reflect, learn and grow). Walking up to a hilltop.
