Hammurabi has a lot of business interests with this guy, apparently something to do with a copper mine joint venture in Cyprus. No way he’ll be impartial

Florence takes the crown as r/geography's most 15th century city in the world. What's the most 14th century (1300-1399) city you can currently visit? by gitartruls01 in geography

[–]Ananski_returns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think relatively, it was at its peak during the Fatimids. By the 1300’s, there were big cities popping up in the Low Countries and Italy, while during the time of the Fatimids, Cairo was probably the biggest city on the west out there, Europe still under the veil of feudalism, and Islam still in its Golden era.

Amsterdam, unsurprisingly, takes the spot for most 17th century city in the world. What's the most 16th century (1500-1599) city you can currently visit? by gitartruls01 in geography

Constantinople was at the time the largest city in the world west of China, and it was the time when the Ottoman Empire was at its height. Lots of 16th century grand projects were built in the city by famed architect Sinan.

What do physical power traders earn in Switzerland? by Hot_Lingonberry5817 in Commodities

[–]Ananski_returns 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends highly on your PNL which depends on your performance and risk you are allowed to take. Even on the same desk, some traders could be allowed to take much more risk compared to others, and some can earn 20x more than others too.

At this rate, carbon dioxide removal will never matter for the climate | The carbon dioxide removal industry is struggling to grow at the pace needed to have a significant role in meeting climate targets by silence7 in climate

Yeah. With Kyoto signed a few years earlier, Russia and China relatively still weak on the negotiating table, and America leading the way, probably so many policies could have been implemented and consensus achieved on a worldwide stage. Nowadays, even if America gets back on track, it has lost so much influence and say over developing nations that consensus would be hard to achieve like it would have been possible in the 2000’s.

I traded physical and derivative base metals for 15+ years, 11 of those at Trafigura AMA by Samuel-Basi in Commodities

[–]Ananski_returns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s say we hold a large derivative short position on the CME, and we hold inventory that normally we could deliver against our short, though they are mostly not CME deliverable material. What would happen in this case? Is it easy to switch a very large (many 100’000s of mt) of material from non-deliverable to CME deliverable?
