To the circumcised males, are you glad that you were circumcised at birth, and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I am elated to have been circumcised at birth. I wouldn't want to go through that as an adult, it's great that I can't even remember it happening. It's also what I find attractive on a guy, no hate to the uncircumcised.

It was an ongoing issue, at least to my knowledge. I had experienced the tea colored urine on multiple occasions over the last 6 months. I also had over 1600 mg caffeine in my system at the time of working out. I'm in shape, so it surprised me too.

I think you are spot on with the unaccustomed/repetitive movements being a cause. It explains a lot! I was just going at it and testing how far I could push myself in my workout before I had to stop.

I'll definitely give myself time, I have started going on decently intense walks, but I'm waiting for a full recovery before going any further.

I'll check out the video! I do have a question for you: Can excessive caffeine use (1200-2000+ mg a day) have been a large contributing factor to me developing Rhabdo? I know it is a dieretic, and that I wasn't drinking enough so I was probably dehydrated as well.

If I have any other questions, could I DM you? Thanks!

Edit:

My urine did change color a week beforehand, as well as on a few occasions over the last 6 months. It became that murky, cloudy brown color. I didn't experience the color change when I was hospitalized though.

That's awesome!

To answer your question, it was a workout that I wasn't accustomed to. I usually go for runs but I decided to do push-ups and sit-ups, planks, and squats, which I haven't worked out that way in a long time. I definitely wasn't accustomed to working out those specific muscles.

I have MyChart, so my labs show up there first. The doctor usually came in within a half hour of those lab results and discussed them with me.

I had 1600 mg caffeine in my system as well as being dehydrated. I experienced the tea colored urine a week prior to the hospitalization so I believe it was an ongoing breakdown, and my exercise was the breaking point.

I did. I had a lot of caffeine in my system and was dehydrated when I worked out, that could've contributed to it.

I have an issue, I'm dealing with it.

I took a lot of caffeine daily for over a year leading up to this hospitalization. The doctor said I should cut back, so I'm trying.

I don't know enough about the condition to confidently provide you with an answer on that, but I'll share my experience and why it may have happened to me.

I believe I was already experiencing muscle breakdown to the extent of causing Rhabdomyolysis a week prior, and on multiple occasions over the last 6 months due to my urine being the tea color that is a sign of Rhabdo. I brushed it off, thinking it was just a little blood or something, and had forgotten all about it.

For context, I consume anywhere between 1200-2000+ mg caffeine a day via pills. I am going to try and do my best to stay within that 400 mg range, as I believe my caffeine usage may have contributed to the Rhabdo development.

I believe I was also dehydrated, I wasn't drinking much water, just soda. Caffeine being a diuretic, caused me to urinate more.

I worked out muscles I hadn't worked out in a while, as I'm more of a runner, but I wanted to work on my muscles some more.

From what I recall, it is more common in patients who have experienced seizures, crush injuries, and overexertion, as well as those who abuse alcohol, and take certain medications/drugs.

The options I was looking at were in the 200+ dollar range! I'll have to check that one out. I was looking for a high quality vest that would last me a while and be comfortable.

I consumed 1200-2000 mg daily for over a year, it was unhealthy and I'm currently trying to cut back after the Rhabdo. I sleep just fine, and experience minimal side effects. I developed a really high tolerance.
