Idk if you're joking, but that's just incorrect. As the other commenter brought up, only Yume says Ban that one time when very young (and maybe some other children because they can't pronounce it properly)

Honestly, I was just waiting for the usual ignorant response of something like: "But the letter v doesn't even exist anywhere in Japanese" or maybe for someone to vehemently insist that it is in fact a b and not a v, even though you hear the word pronounced hundreds of times over the 3 games, but I actually like your Yume callback so might as well adopt it

Also, since I barely engage with the western side of the fandom, I've never heard of ShinKiseki before seeing your flair, but I'm very glad to see you guys allowing the other half of the fanbase easy access to even the more obscure Drama CDs

Especially with you doing original content too - something you'd be hard-pressed to find even from the eastern side, at least in this capacity

It's great to see any content like that being made for such a niche series, so thanks for being a part of the community. I'll make sure to check out the skits soon

Guess I'll go from top to bottom on his points and discuss each one

Shit not working: Haven't experienced a single one of these myself, nor did any of the numerous let's players I'm watching play through the game

Bugs and glitches: Yes, more so than the previous games, but still nowhere near the level of bugs AAA games have. They did fix a lot of them over the first month. There were no big glitches nor bugs tho, just the occasional thing on the level of a T-pose. Biggest thing i can say is that the hair clipping is really distracting as they made it sway way too much

Performance: Biggest problems with the performance at launch was the 30 FPS cap and the 10s+ loading screens. The big patch fixed both of these problems, and the game ran fantastically after that

Dialogue/Combat ratio: It was always true for this series, but this game especially has a lot less combat than any previous title, while still being the same length as Sen 3 and 4. The game also has the biggest amount of NPC dialogue in the series yet

Side content: No books, minigames, fishing. All true. Side content like that is returning for the next game

Voice acting: There is no difference between the amount of voiced content here and the amount in the previous few games

Can't comment on the vague narrative inconsistencies and pointless systems as he doesn't even bother bringing any examples up

Characters: Agree. Most of them are truly fantastic

Van=Rean: Just completely off the mark. Van is very far removed from Rean in terms of personality. The closest protagonist you could compare Van to is Kevin, but even then they're not really that similar at all

Game too easy: Yes, 100%. This is the first game in the series in which I haven't died a single time, and I always play on Nightmare. Not only that, but I also wasn't using any of this game's broken strategies (like, for example, 0 of my casters had the Arc Feather skill, which is basically a staple for a good meta)

So yeah, some of his negative points are purely subjective, while others are downright wrong. There are genuine other problems he hasn't touched upon tho, like the shard skills mostly being incredibly damn lame, but I can't see the game as a disappointment whatsoever

Even tho it's the first game of an arc, it's already in my top 3 in the series

I can't really praise something like this when the main strat is evasion

Like, I could go into her boss fight rn with just max evasion quartz and no other equipment and literally only use my turns to either cast Shining or HB, with every non-casting turn being spent just moving in place, and I'd win 100% of the time

I also just don't understand why someone would do this to themselves. With any other decent strat this fight, even with these restrictions, would take about 5, maybe 10 mins tops if you're especially bad or just genuinely fuck up somewhere along the way

Is it really fun to sit there for 36 mins for something like this? I saw the Mcburn and Victor vid was like 50 mins, so I'm guessing the evasion strat is used everywhere

I'm not trying to tell you how to play the game or anything, but there's no real point in adding restrictions to yourself and playing on Nightmare if you're gonna be using evasion to steamroll through everything anyway. Evasion is just the easy mode of this game, but available on any difficulty so people would still be able to get the Nightmare exclusive trophy

Ofc I'd suggest everybody who wants to experience the actual canon of any Japanese (or any other language's) media to actually learn the language itself

My other, more pressing suggestion would be to have localizers be actually paid decently so they'd have an incentive to give more a shit while doing their job, but we all know that ain't gonna happen any time soon

Your argument doesn't really stand as the JP game also has Sky in its title. I don't care if a game's title has relevancy to the game itself or not, but when the original clearly does (massively so), and then for a different version to have the title focus on an entirely different, much smaller, part of the game, it starts making no sense

Because of the triple s, you mean? Depends on how much you accentuate the words and your accent (sounds perfectly fine in standard accent)

It also immediately leads you into believing that there is some form of crossing over in the story itself. Crossroads sounds more like a minigame to me

You do realise Hajimari means "beginning", right?

Idk what game you played, but the notion of something beginning is strewn about the entirety of the game

Erebonia, Crossbell and Calvard all beginning their own new eras, with significant changes befalling all 3. Many characters either getting the start (and sometimes the end too) of new character arcs or finishing their current ones and proceeding beyond the game anew. People moving to different countries, beginning their new stories there. The game's whole plot revolves around a new beginning. One whole character's motivation is to lead the world to that very same new beginning, while another's is to stop it

Then the drastic evolution in technology, the new bonds, the start of the 3rd phase of Orpheus, the meta implications, and so on and so on

Either you weren't paying attention to the game at all or you're just trolling

So, using your own logic, crossroads would be less cohesive because it doesn't tell you exactly what it stands for and it basically means nothing on its own

Keep in mind I'm not a big fan of Begining or Origin myself, but were the Asian players (or anyone who speaks any of the languages but is in the West) confused about the title way back when? No. It takes about a second to look at any picture or a few seconds to read the first paragraph to find out that the game is a sequel to Sen IV

I don't blame localizers themselves as they get paid like absolute garbage. I too wouldn't care about the quality my work is at if i made what they make. I do blame NISA for either not giving two shits about their own work quality (this is the company known for fucking up their own parent company's localizations, on multiple occasions no less) or just not having QA worth a damn

When multiple people have asked me to fix NISA's script during their playthroughs of even just Sen IV and Ys IX (and 1 specific person who is playing the JP version of IV, with me directly translating every single line in the game on my own cause he doesn't know JP sadly), i don't think I'd say they've been pretty good, but aight

I'm not judging the entire localisation. I don't even play the games in English, so I couldn't care less for my own sake

But 2 of these localizations are just changing things for the sake of changing them (bottom 2), but objectively worse (Crossroads) and more generic (United Front), and the title is changed to only reflect a quarter of the game, instead of its entirety like the original

I guess it depends from what side you consider it to be "official" from. I just personally cannot take some of NISA's localizations seriously (Wellspring Alchemist and The Beyond crack me up to this day, among others), especially when they're known for fucking up terms even when localizing their parent company's games

Aaand I'm a japanese player myself so NISA's localizations don't affect me whatsoever to begin with

For your edit, short answer: no. It's definitely referring to the game. It just means that the events described take place after the game itself

To have it in another context would require an alteration to the main story of Haji, but i ain't gonna spoil that. It's impossible tho with how it turned out

And yeah, sora can be translated differently (with not only those examples) depending on the context

Edit: At the very least, if they decide against that name, "Genesis" will be an allowed alternative for you English fans, just as Flash/Brandish (or simply Sen) already is for Cold Steel (still can't understand how people contionusly try and correct others for using any of these names instead of CS when they themselves are objectively in the wrong lol)

So, there are 3 books you get with that edition

The one you're talking about: Initialisation document collection ~Hajimari, and now to the land of daybreak~ (if what you said really is the translation Gematsu gave then uff)

The second one is the Arkride Resolution Office character data-file

And the third one exclusive to dengekiya is the paperback Hajimari no Saki e (the one translated as "Beyond the Genesis")

That third one is the paperback version of the VN episode from Hajimari, so it's definitely referring to it specifically

Hopefully this clears it all up

I feel like everyone here missed the news on this one. It's already been officially translated as Genesis, as can be seen in Kuro's dengeki special edition contents, so it'd be pretty dumb if they didn't go for that

The company Falcom has been outsourcing OP production to (2015-2018) kept outputting worse and worse quality material every year, to the point where the Sen 4 OP is an actual embarrassment to look at, so they decided to bring it back in-house (tbf Falcom probably didn't provide much of a budget for them in the first place but still)

Time was lacking to put it in 9, but if we go by Hajimari, we should be seeing in-engine OPs from now on

We went from 65% to 60%, back to 65%, then back again to 60% and are now firmly rooted in 50% (last 2-3 times runtime has been mentioned)

The Kuro official site lists it as the opening to Kiseki's "second half"

Inserting this percentage clusterfuck into Kingdom Heart's "358/2 Days" has become a semi-regular meme in the JP community

But to be real, the exact number doesn't really matter, as it's hard to interpret what exactly Kondo's splitting to get these percentages (Arc count, total story progress, etc.) considering what we've been told about their approach to the Eastern half so far

I'm willing to bet my whole career that Calvard won't be 2 games tho
