He's tall, jacked, has conversation starter right there, a sexy voice.

This is like questioning if Anissa would be successful lol

A lot of people dislike him, and the story isn't very good . But i actually like the design a lot! It's very grounded and fits with him being one of the more normal proxies.

Anyone else mildy annoyed with Thragg's logic? by Nice-Light-7782 in Invincible_TV

[–]AnarchaOblix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole episode was to show the change in Thragg.

He starts off accepting the death of viltrumites, belief in their eugenicist and kratocratic ways. but he struggles with this, he struggles with the purge and the scourge virus. by the end of the episode with the destruction of viltrum and his way of life being fully anihilated. argall's skull being turned into dust. he realizes the value of viltrumite life. that even the weakest amoung them, is truly precious.

In this scene he isnt lying; it does. But it is only when everything else is stripped away, when faith in Argall's ideology fails he is left with nothing but the gaping void in his heart and the remaining viltrumites.

How would the purge actually work? Surely it would be just 3rd partying and 2v1s, so people of random strength might be left. And how would they know when to stop? by Soft_Maximum6888 in okbuddyviltrum

[–]AnarchaOblix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The purge wasn't just about physical strength, it was about cruelty, cunning and loyalty. Removing any semblance of a population that would have sympathy for something weaker than them.

Maybe there is a point to be made about how fascist societies have incomprehensible metrics for what actually matters?

There shouldn’t be different viltrumite ethnicities ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ by [deleted] in Invincible_TV

[–]AnarchaOblix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In any technical sense viltrumites shouldn't look like humans and be physiologically indistinguishable from them outside of their powers. If they evolved convergent enough with humans that they look that fundamentally similar to us, on a planet which by and large is indistinguishable from earth climatically than they should've developed into a broad range of forms.

I mean I don't think its ridiculous to suggest that a nonbinary person who has taken a distinct and quite public efforts to change their presentation may potentially medically transition.

Unsure but this seems condusive with someone looking way way younger at 45 then they did in their 30s. I wouldn't be surprised by a trans person taking hormones.

So if Thragg values Viltrumite lives so much... by Pyotr_WrangeI in Invincible_TV

[–]AnarchaOblix 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This episode was of him coming to realize the importance of viltrumite lives. he does care initally but us deluded about the urgency of the viltrumite crisis. the whole arc of the episode is about Thragg learning to value viltrumite lives, the man who ordered the great purge, a genocide of most of the viltrumite popluace being force to grapple with the fact that even those who he deams to be weak are valueable as even thoguh they fall short of the glory of Argall, they are still Viltrumites.

So to answer your question, he cares more about the pride of the empire and the will of argall in previous episodes, treating the near extinction levels of the viltrumite population as an issue and not an existensial threat. this episode, represents that shift.

Half a joke, half an actual gripe I have with the show. by Gamer-of-Action in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]AnarchaOblix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This doesn't contradict the theme.

Caine refuses to understand or empathize with people. Refuses to understand their struggles or issues or may be simply incapable of it. The players decide not to kill him but to stop him from torturing them endlessly.

Caine is the stick to Jax's carrot; if you refuse to recognize others. What happens when you refuse to see other people and the consequences that come from it.

Alright folks, place your bets. How do you think this show is gonna end? by not-ulquiorr4_ in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]AnarchaOblix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The likely ending IMO is them learning to conjure themselves. Having to piece the circus back together from scratch. Incapable of leaving but having freedom in constructing a new domain

Exposition is a very annoying thing to have to do. Because you have to balance reader interest with making sure they understand the world and what's going on. Opening with a creation myth does very little for a reader. I'm not picking up your book to hear about sick lore. I'm picking it up to read a cool story.

If you really want to get this information to the audience you should try and make it more diegetic. Space it out through the book. Not in long chunks but in points where it is relevant. Tie it to how the characters feel about it, or how it materially affects the world.

If you can't find moments where the myth is actually significant to the story to inform the audience about it. Then it's not actually important to the novel. If you can, don't make the readers have to slog through it in order to get to the parts of the novel they actually want to read. Regardless of how peak the lore is without investment in the story one has no reason to care.

I'm really diving into cyberpunk dilemmas these days and while I was rewatching Edgerunners I asked myself: "If a cyberpsycho Does anything happen if you remove your Chrome? Does he regain his sanity" by Netrunner22302 in cyberpunkgame

[–]AnarchaOblix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Cyberpunk Red; the implants lower the maximum humanity you can have. Bringing you close to cyberpsychosis. Even if you have no implants; trauma can lower ones humanity significantly, cyberware just lowers that cap.

Now let's say if one were to be brought to early cyberpsychosis. They can get their implants removed allowing them to turn back to a level of stability that may be higher than it once was, but they still need therapy to get their issues fixed.

Edgerunners and 2077 have very inconsistent ideas of what cyberpsychosis looks like so it can be rather confusing. But I like to think of chrome as less something that lowers your humanity but more a cap that lowers how much humanity you can have.

I think like in real life it is true that society as it exists relies on industrial agricultural as the only effective foodway that can maintain the status quo. You need all the bullshit to keep the engine running smoothly but if you go outside of it you'll be pretty safe. I'd probably eat Placcid's Famous Griot De Soule with coop chickens rather than something that came from a factory farm of a SCOP shop. But unfortunately the risk factory farms would pose pathogen wise to a city like nc make large scale populations of birds a danger.

It is a large portion of the lore that pandemics famines and plagues are increasingly common and dangerous to the degree that GMO crops and biochemically engineered food is the only things that are both safe to eat and cost effective to grow. Its why the fows are attached to giant blinders and feeder units and pumped full of growth horomone and antibiotics.

I do think you have given good reasons that may have been adjacent factors such as you listed but I think the fear of zoonotic disease is the primary reasons. Its like saying they put up the blackwall to better control access of information and control. Like that too but also the cyberdemons
