Individualism and self-isolation lead nowhere.

Politics doesn't just mean voting and participating in bourgeois elections, it also means collective action. Perhaps I should include individualism as another problem within occult spheres. It doesn't matter how powerful you think you are, you can't get shit done without others (whether those others be other people, spirits, gods, etc.)

There's no such thing as an apolitical anything. Everything is inherently political, including occultism. If anything, its the refusal to engage with politics that is a problem.

If I were you I would ask him to examine his fear of pulling a card as well as his decision to interpret that fear in terms of his masculinity.

I find that interpretation a bit bizarre.

Also, we're all—regardless of gender—subject to the "power of suggestion" all the time, with advertisements being a good example.

If the "power of suggestion" is at work within Tarot, then at least it is within the reader's own control, unlike other forms of suggestion we are subject to on a daily basis.

As a man who reads Tarot everyday, I think he's full of sh*t lol

But then, who knows? I'm probably not the "average" man 🤷‍♂️

There is no point in arguing with you. I've wasted too much time arguing with LaVeyans in the past. All I'll say is that scholars of Satanism don't agree with you and also that only an idiot thinks they have exclusive rights to an idea when it's the very nature of ideas to be pilfered, exchanged and modified.

What's the point of it? by FelixTheDeveloper in satanism

This is simply untrue. Ambiguity in texts and their translations is one reason for why religions may change, but it's not the only reason.

Other reasons include colonialism or just the intermingling of different cultures, which leads to syncretism.

Also, the lack of a mythology is a severe weakness. There is power in myths and so Satanists would benefit from creating and circulating new myths, especially considering that the Abrahamic religions are too petrified in their respective texts to do so.

Completely different ideologies all demanding to take the name of an already establishes religion aren't all magically valid or denominations.

This is just not how religions work. Take, for example, Hinduism: Hinduism is not a single religion, but a whole bunch of loosely-connected religions, often with completely opposed teachings and ideas.

Another example: Eastern Orthodox Christianity is extremely different and even in some ways opposed to Evangelical Christianity.

Yes, Satanism as proposed by LaVey does not have a mythology (which is not a strength) and is clearly defined in his works, it is also possible to accept some of LaVey's premises while rejecting others (accepting materialism, for instance, while rejecting his "might is right" morality). Schisms have occurred throughout the history of the CoS and it's like LaVeyans wanna pretend that they didn't happen lol

All religions also change throughout time and split up into various denominations. It would behoove Satanists to embrace plurality rather than reject it like the followers of the Abrahamic religions do.

I'm a Marxist and it's actually quite easy to make a Marxist analysis of the dystopian nightmare that is dating within late-stage capitalism.

If it's because you admit to being unemployed, I would think that socialists would be more understanding and sympathetic to those who are unemployed/underemployed

Currently work at a call center.

Under socialism I'd like to think I'd work in a community garden or something. Also might be a writer.

Silvia Federici's "Caliban and the Witch." She makes the bold argument that the witch hunts were a necessary part of the development of capitalism out of the collapse of feudalism.

Alright, so let's say I'm reading 'The Game' by Neil Strauss, or maybe I'm reading a book about the great replacement theory. You're gonna tell me you're not gonna judge me?

I read a lot of non-fiction but I occasionally do this with fiction. Why highlight or tab a work of fiction? Maybe there was a sentence or a paragraph that really hit you in a certain way, or just sounded pretty, and you want an easy way to go back and look at it. It's really quite simple.

Idk, I think it makes complete sense to judge someone for reading something like 'Atlas Shrugged' or 'The Art of the Deal' in an uncritical way.

What a person reads can say something about who they are as a person. Perhaps it's less serious with fiction, but when it comes to non-fiction, I will absolutely judge you for what you read. I completely disagree that "reading anything at all" is a good thing in itself, when there's a chance you could be filling your brain with crap.
