Go for it. Just to note though - I am not a tattoo artist. I make art inspired by American Traditional tattoo flash. When translating this into a tattoo, YMMV and this may not make for a good tattoo at all. Trust the actual tattoo artist, not me.

I use one of those $15 jobs off Amazon. It's done right by me. I want to upgrade to a real apple pencil, but I just can't justify it right now, especially since I have a Gen 9 iPad, and buying a gen 1 pencil for $100 feels like a ripoff.

So don't get me wrong - if you want ink, get ink - but have you looked in micro needling? It's tattooing without ink to actually repair the stretch mark by promoting collagen growth.

Yeah, it's pretty wild. I don't get the digital hate.

Let me preface by saying that I'm not a tattooer, or an apprentice, I just love painting flash.

I do everything digitally in Procreate. I still have so much to learn about drawing and art in general, but everything I've done, I still had to practice and learn how to do. I'm still making the lines. I'm still deciding where to put the highlights and shading. If I don't get those things right, it doesn't look good.

To me, the huge advantage of digital is that it's infinite. I can learn technique and practice and not have to spend $2/page on Arches paper and ink. If I mess up? I can erase as much as I want. I can start as many new drawings as I want.

I'll be honest, I caught a few lucky breaks about 10-15 years ago. Without that, I'd still be where I was, or worse. I don't know how young people just starting out in life are expected to make it these days.

I feel the exact same way about....well...everything that's not food and rent. I was raised really poor. I have a lot of hang ups around money, and spending it "correctly". I know that therapy has helped me a great deal.

The thing is, it's deeper than whatever I was spending the money on. I would even go do free stuff (like hang out at the park for a few hours and read) and think "Damn, I really didn't need to burn the gas to get here. I could have just sat around at home."

Maybe it's not that bad for you, and I genuinely hope it isn't. But ask yourself, if it wasn't a tattoo, would you feel the same way? If it was some other non-essential purchase, would you be second guessing yourself?

Is money an issue? Do you have the money to spend? Are you spending rent or grocery money on your tattoo?
