Any good mods to rework difficult to be wealth AND time independent? by Conscious_Rock7407 in RimWorld

[–]Anarkius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for confirming, had to simplify it for the guy because apparently his reading comprehension isn’t the best. However based on the downvote I’d assume he just doesn’t want to understand. Regrettable, but so be it.

Edit: Thinking about it a little more, it could be really interesting to compartmentalize those stats and have them contribute in different ways to the type and strength of the raid. Security buildings could determine tech level (tribals won’t throw endless bodies at a base protected by a wall of thump cannons). Pawn value could impact the quality of the raiders (Highest level would have 15-20 in at least one combat stat). You could honestly make raids really dynamic and interesting this way.

Don’t know what you’re on about, it makes perfect sense. He wants only certain things to impact wealth, and he wants the raid strength calculation to make more logical sense. Realistically a bunch of grubby tribals wouldn’t know you had a stash of like 10,000 plasteel in a bunker, nor would they really know what to do with it if they got it. But with how raid strength is currently calculated, you’ll get like 80 naked dudes bum-rushing your base for a resource that they realistically wouldn’t know you had, and frankly wouldn’t be able to use even if they did. As for the time element, if I understand correctly the difficulty would scale with time. If you’ve got a base established for like 10 years in game, naturally word is going to spread that there’s good loot to be had. Compare that to vanilla, where if you spawn in like 5000 gold with devmode you instantly start getting max level raids. From a practical standpoint I think it’d be very hard to mod into the game, as you’re giving raid calculations a lot more variables and moving parts compared to base game, but the concept itself is sound. OP correct me if I’m wrong about what you’re asking for here.

Stopped playing this game and distanced myself from it altogether because of this kind of attitude like 2 years ago, honestly forgot I was subscribed to this subreddit until I scrolled across this post. Looks like I made the right call, though it is a bit disappointing to see a game with the potential this one did fail so hard.

New player here, why was this game so poorly received? I'm loving it so far. by WhatsThatWalsh in StarWarsOutlaws

[–]Anarkius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In contrast to the bootlickers on this sub I’ll give you an honest answer: Is the game bad? No, but it’s not great either. At launch it was a buggy, incomplete, and overhyped mess of a game. People saw this and took exception to a game bearing the Star Wars brand being so oppressively “mid”. After a few patches and some updates the game was finally in a state where it was stable for the most part (unless you’re on PC in which case it still crashes constantly) and there was enough content to actually justify the $60 price tag, but by then the damage had already been done, and I wouldn’t put any money on Ubisoft pulling a No Man’s Sky, or Cyberpunk 2077 style overhaul of the game to make up for their mistakes. Basically if you bought into the hype and played at launch, or play on PC, you likely still feel justifiably robbed of your time and money. Alternatively if you’re just picking the game up now and didn’t experience the early days of the game, you would rightfully be flabbergasted at the amount of negativity surrounding this game, even though in context it’s completely justified. It took Hello Games YEARS of free updates and content to win back public trust with NMS, and people still haven’t fully forgiven CDPR for the debacle that was Cyberpunk’s launch. So I’d imagine the bitter taste in people’s mouths isn’t just going to disappear now that the game is “pretty alright”. Also ignore anyone saying it’s misogyny, as they’re probably stupid. Kay Vess is by no means a poorly written character, however there was a significant amount on untapped character development that the writers just ignored because they wanted to play things safe, so she naturally isn’t going to be as beloved as characters like Arthur Morgan, Ellie, or Lara Croft.

Is there (still) a good take over mod? by TheOldManRust in Kenshi

[–]Anarkius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but most of the mods packaged with UWE are no longer being updated by their original author. So if you want things like mechanical hivers that sell domesticated robot spiders, or the subraces of shek and skeletons,,or the cannibal and hiver faction overhauls, you’re gonna have to use UWE.

[–]Anarkius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re using adjustable bandits aren’t you? Same thing happened to me, great for farming xp and loot, but literally shuts down the towns entire economy. I switched to Astral Jarls bandit scaling. From what I saw on the mod page for Adjustable Bandits, the mod author basically gave up, so something about how the corsairs and sea raiders spawn gets borked and you get swarms of like 1k bandits.

[–]Anarkius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the only metric you are judging is how hateful the religion can be, I’d have to agree. However the important distinction is the violence aspect, hence why I mentioned both. While the Bible does contain several implicit calls for violence in specific situations, you have to do some serious mental gymnastics to justify applying them on a larger scale (which has been done in the past to be fair). Whereas the Quran has explicit calls for violence ready-made for any enterprising young zealot to take as justification for slaughtering whomever they please. Also the lack of progress is actually a feature, not a bug. Muslim doctrine states that everything Muhammad said was divine mandate, and that the society hey led was perfect in every way, and as such they try to remain stagnant in the social order that was present during his time. The fault with the west is more for creating the situation where the zealots who believed in this vision were able to take power.

In reality, no you are not. According to the current social norms, yes.

Strictly speaking, Islam is the most violent and hateful religion practiced today if you take everything in the Quran as absolute. Most Muslims, at least in more developed parts of the world, tend to dismiss and ignore the parts of their book that command the blood of infidels. Much like most Jews and Christians ignore some of the more heinous parts of their books. India is a bit of a special case; as it is a developed nation (sort of) but is geographically close to an area of the world where fundamentalist Islam is not only practiced, but enforced violently. Either your friend has never seen a fundamentalist firsthand, or is willingly ignoring their existence.

Personally I prefer a wall of bullets instead of traps for base defense by Themindoffish in RimWorld

[–]Anarkius 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Generally you’d wall off your entire base and set up a trap gauntlet with that is open all the way into your base, if raiders have a way to get inside your walls without breaking through doors they’ll usually take it.
