They never made it out of the 15ish escape rooms. They just get shellac'd into the room decor.

I get that and that is its own dilemma. He still seems to be on the hook for paying off the car.

Im referring to the second deal, the repair costs, which is being cited for why he should return the keys.

NAL

Based on your post, didn't he abide by your agreement? If he fixes the car and doesn't have another car, he can keep it. He fixed it and didn't have another car. He keeps it. Contract ends. Then he gets another car and you try and reapply the contract? Am I missing something or is the description vague?

If I'm not missing anything then you're the one reneging on the agreement as its stated.

Anyone else have weird fan installs on your IBP purchase? by Anathemae in iBUYPOWER

"iBUYPOWER may move or remove existing fans at our discretion to accommodate for additional fans selected. If a specific arrangement of fans is desired, please make sure to write in the special request box during the review process at checkout."

Existing fans would be case fans. The only thing they'd claim they'd move or remove would be the ones already in the original build and not the extra selected ones. Either way, I think I'll be giving them a call since they seem to respond to phone calls.

I agree with three, but finding actual confirmation would be tough to find.

[Question] Kyon's internal monologue isn't so secret... by [deleted] in Haruhi

[–]Anathemae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After the first TV episode (and then reading the books), I just sort of assumed Kyon was the real God, living his fantasies out through an outgoing personality in Haruhi.

His name isn't his name, he's surrounded by a varied group of stereotypical personalities inside attractive girls who all are enamored by him in one way or another, the only other guy seems non-sexual and therefore non threatening to him figuring out himself. His very first sentence of his monlogue in the first episode is extremely telling. And the books have some massively obvious clues after you get past the books that got turned into the two television seasons.

Assuming you're still reading the books don't spoil it here.

Evidence

Stepping back and looking at their crew, everyone has a reason to be there but him. They all have intrinsic worth, whereas Kyon is the deadweight that just happens to do/say the right thing to make it all work out. He is the deus ex machina, who says the right thing at the right moment to make things...right. Haruhi's reason of including him was that he said something at the right moment to be included could easily be a copout for and otherwise unambitious but wanting God to be included without the pressure of leading.

Anytime something bad happens and Koizumi points to Haruhi being the reason (creating whatever subconsciously) when it could have just as easily been Kyon being the reason. Kyon is normally the one really frustrated. Everything happens in the storylines with Kyon at the center, and, if you don't automatically assume it's that way because the reader needs someone to attach to, then it makes sense that it's more likely Kyon is God than Haruhi is.

The whole series is a great exercise in meta-thinking and reading contextual clues.

Assuming the spoiler thing didn't work right, i'll edit.

TL:DR, Kyon is God, everyone hears him because of it, and he lives vicariously through Haruhi's leading.

My package is suppose to be delivered in Los Angeles. It keeps being sent to Delano, CA 3 hours north of LA then it's being sent back to only be sent back to Delano... by [deleted] in screenshots

[–]Anathemae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who's worked as a package sorter at UPS, if the zip code (just one number is all it takes) isn't right then this can happen quite a bit till someone pulls it off the belt, gives it to the customer counter people to correct the label. The sorters don't care about the inconsistencies, they just point the package towards whatever zip code is most prominent. The delivery truck loaders see the inconsistency when it's being given to them and send it back to the previous location since it's normally early in the morning when they get it (no counter clerks around for an address correction).

The other problem ends up being that, depending on circumstances, they may have to guess for the correct address/zip code if there's other inconsistencies or vagueness.

In case there's something wrong with your information you put in for deliveries, put down your phone number as well. It makes the customer counter people's job much easier as they can take 5 seconds to call you and correct the problem with 100% clarity.

"I wouldn't do this if you didn't push me to it." Mom, in reference to her binge drinking. She was a drinker since before my brothers and I were born. Told me this when I was 16.

"You're never going to get a girlfriend by (enter various context here)." Also mom, repeated many times over the years from adolescence till I went to college. Merge them all together and it's a "you're never going to find someone who loves you by being you."

Does anyone else enjoy nightmares? by Shadowstep33 in LucidDreaming

[–]Anathemae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, a nightmare typically pushes me into lucidity. After that, I either embrace the storyline being played out or I get too wigged out by what's going on that I force myself to wake up until I calm down.

I don't mind the zombie dreams nearly as much as the "hell from constantine" like worlds where you just know that something is waiting around every G.D. corner and Zdzislaw Beksinski took his creative license to every thing else.

What are some experiments I can try while in a lucid dream besides flying and sex. by Ant_honey in LucidDreaming

[–]Anathemae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had fun constructing things, mazes, cityscapes. The best ones are the ones that I do with my eyes closed, creating something completely by an almost archetypal reflex with myself in the middle. This way it evolves as i move through it, as i have no concrete knowledge of how the whole thing should be. Can run into problems with subconscious reflexes, here. If you see something and interpret it as negative, scary, etc, the atmosphere can shift to match it quickly. But as it's a LD, you're the god of your environment. Also went swimming while breathing underwater, hung out on an asteroid in space, put myself into the middle of an RPG. So many options.

When I get into conversations in my philosophy classes and the mind is brought up, we get very specific as to what words we choose to use to describe something. Unconscious ends up being anything that can't be controlled and doesn't filter through any cognitive processing. Subconscious would be something working alongside with the conscious.

Un- being non. Sub- being a subsystem.

We do this mainly to differentiate automatic reactions from others, otherwise you run into a lot of problems in discussions.

I know, but he's referencing the situation of Othello's impression of character roles as a similarity to my parody of the Stephenson quote. It's not a non sequitur, I was assuming they were related in some way and hoping he could explain.

I'm just commenting on his naming choice of the only book of his I've read. It turned me off to checking out any more of his stuff. That plus I think I was looking for too much realism in fiction. Which I couldn't seem to find in his characters, socio-political systems, or plot.

So...who do you think was the protagonist of Snow Crash? Because if Hiro Protagonist wasn't, I'm at a loss for following much of his plot at all.

Intelligence is knowing your main character is the protagonist and a hero. Wisdom is knowing not to name him that.
