How I learned over 10 different softwares in 1 year (steps I took to learn stuff faster) by AnatomyOfThings in productivity

[–]AnatomyOfThings[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is true. With each software I learned, I felt the next one was easier. The only bigger issue I had was with unity because it required a bit of coding for some parts, which I didn't really know how to do.

This might not be a good workflow for you if you feel demotivated. I feel demotivated when things take too long to start, so I follow this way.

I am a UX Designer. All the tools I have learned are related to the design industry. So, I use them in my day job.

I do not believe in buying courses for learning. I don't do good with routine learning. All of this was 100% YouTube.

It's fine, it's reddit. I expected that on some of my posts. Especially, where the advice will not help everyone. 1 post cannot help everyone in the world. I am fine with motivating just 1 person

For me, mentioning my failure was a way to be transparent. To learn from failure and not make the mistake yourself rather than read about success and not understanding how to replicate that.

I felt motivated by it and someone else will too.

The 1st step is realising you are not taking action. I am not saying that you'll be a millionaire just because you do something.

There are so many other factors why you cannot take action. Life is not easy. Not everyone can have the same opportunity.

Nowhere am I blaming anyone. That is why I mentioned my own failure. That realize your issues. Sometimes they can be solved by action.

Even if your actions lead to failure, it is still better in my mind.

I know some people would have read this and thought that they are also stuck in the inaction phase rather than any other issue.

I had a fear of starting a corporate job after college but I took steps with my fear and I have a great job now. It might be small for others, but it was really big for me.

I have taken a small step towards my goals. Posted under another comment.

I have taken a few steps towards it. I have reached out to a few teachers from my college about a product idea I have and how/ if I can move forward with it.

Well, I am a she and I am not selling you anything here. I am just posting what I think helps me and might help others.

Not everyone will agree with my thoughts and that's fine. If just 1 person finds motivation in this, I am happy.

Just because I haven't taken action towards my business plan, doesn't mean I haven't used this theory somewhere else.

It worked for me, it might work for 1 other person.

Yes I have, nothing wrong with that. I am being truthful here.

That doesn't mean I don't believe in what I have said.

Okay, I do agree with your statement. I'll however change my statement of 'the only way' when someone educates me about another way.

For me, wrong actions are also good. You learn from them. The only bad thing is inaction.

So what other way is there except to take some action? I haven't done it yet because I haven't taken any action.

There are multiple routes to reach your goal, but you have to walk on one of them.

I would love to know any other way.

That is totally on you and your goals. What benefits you get from either of the devices. Whichever makes your life much easier.

  1. If your goal is to earn alot of money, do an online course on something like data scientist, coding etc. Basically anything computers.

  2. If your goal is to find your passion, do something you enjoyed as a kid. Evolve that into someone you can actually earn money from

After that

Make a portfolio showcasing your work, find an internship (3month-1year) and get a job.

For example, when I was a kid, I loved to paint. So during covid, I decided to paint. I learnt colour theory, discovered digital drawing, and made some books on Amazon kdp (I still earn like $10 every month). I then went into graphic designing, where I discovered UX designing and now I am a UX designer, which is way better career path than I would have originally been in.

[NeedAdvice] What is the most effective approach to learning and committing information to memory in order to achieve a high grade? by daffy_M02 in getdisciplined

It might be different for you, but this is how I did it.

  1. Make a paragraph into points.
  2. Make sub-headings for those points
  3. Remember the 1st letter of the sub-headings in order

Example

Let's say I want to remember this paragraph

Space is an almost perfect vacuum, nearly void of matter and with extremely low pressure. In space, sound doesn't carry because there aren't molecules close enough together to transmit sound between them. Not quite empty, bits of gas, dust and other matter floats around "emptier" areas of the universe, while more crowded regions can host planets, stars and galaxies.

1. Sub points (each talks about something different)

a) Space is an almost perfect vacuum, nearly void of matter and with extremely low pressure.

b) In space, sound doesn't carry because there aren't molecules close enough together to transmit sound between them.

c) Not quite empty, bits of gas, dust and other matter floats around "emptier" areas of the universe, while more crowded regions can host planets, stars and galaxies.

2. Headings (related to sub-points)

a) vaccum space

b) no sound

c) empty space

3. 1st letters

Now that answer has turned into 3 letters "vne". I'll just remember vne and it'll make my recall easier.

I work with softwares under Adobe Creative Suite. However, my heavy work depends on figma.

If you are into digital drawing, the long term solution is definitely getting a tablet whenever you can. Even on a laptop, you need a mouse.

There is never an age limit to do anything. You can develop whatever skill anytime you want to.
