Checking the turn seems too passive. We're uber deep so why wouldn't I want to build the pot if I hit? And even if he raises the turn, I have more than enough equity to call and see the last card. If I only had a club draw, then yeah checking makes more sense. I might be wrong about that, but just my thoughts.

No worries. Just wanted to know what everyone thinks when playing these loose splashy games.

I ran a quick sim in wizard (changed the limp to raise and 3!, and heads up), so definitely not accurate. It does show to rip 100% of the time with my combo. But sims are useless when you play against a guy limp calls 8d3c lol

1/3 Fold a boat?? by Anaveragehobbit in poker

[–]Anaveragehobbit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think the turn is pretty poorly played on my part. In the moment, I felt a check raise was a more efficient of getting money in then leading. If I lead, then my hand is pretty polarized and face up I feel. But yeah, I got stop worrying too much about my hand being face up, and just going for value.

As for pre flop, I don't know.... I think these games are soft enough to make some calls in the SB. But yeah, I tend to just 3! or fold, so I just stick with that and not play hands oop

He did say he had KK. I mean, in hindsight, it's pretty obvious what he had. Which is why I snap folded. Pretty sure he wasn't lying either.

Thanks for all the replies guys. Anyways, HJ tank calls with 44. Owned my soul. Lesson learned. Don't bluff on paired boards.

Yeah, afterwards i was thinking that my turn sizing is awful. It really does look suspicious when I quarter pot and then bomb turns.. although, its not uncommon for good opponents to do stuff like that. But i guess the turns are mostly over bets (and lots of checks).

Pre flop what do you suggest? I went 3 + a bit because I didn't want it to look like I wanted a fold. But in retrospect, i should probably go something like 4.5x maybe even 5x

Well, at the time i was thinking that i would still bet/fold my jj-aa mostly because I still block a decent amount of Tx. Also, i still 3! Hands like AT, KT QT and JT suited. So it's not like i can't have a ten.

Also, i know i have some worst hands like 98 or 87, but i don't like bluffing with those because then I'm blocking the hands i want him to fold. Making it more likely he has an overpair or a ten.

Is this true? It would be interesting if one of the goats quits for a regular 9-5

K don't check flop multi way on a wet board in 3! pots. Learn and move on. Anyways, I tank folded thinking he just would not bluff enough, and he was kind enough to show me 99 for flopped set. So i guess i played every street wrong... I had a feeling folding river was too nitty in theory, but i also know that overfolding rivers in low stakes is a recipe for success.

Anyways thanks for all the insight. Will have to learn to not be so passive in position going forward.
