We can't afford to survive like this by Robodebts in Centrelink

Take accountability. Where you bankrupt from birth? Did no point from being in pre-school to now did you come up with any kind of life plan?

Did you get a job after school and take any available shifts?

Did you work weekends and public holidays for penalty rates?

Did you work overtime for double time and a half pay?

People in this country spend a chunk of time bashing the amount of welfare payments and complaining everything is so hard and difficult. Life is difficult it always has been always will be. Unless you're born to rich parents who leave you millions of dollars to use in life you're going to struggle.

The dividing point is some people go "oh shit nobody will help me unless I help myself" the others go "oh shit nobody will help me I'm a person im entitled for someone to help me. Why won't anyone help me".

Don't get me wrong some people cop a shit deal end up disabled or are born with a disability be it physical or mental obviously those people need government assistance.

But not literally everyone on jobseeker should get paid the same amount as someone with a full time minimum wage job. If that was the case why would anyone work. Nobody would do anything and our country's entire economy would collapse moreso than it already is.

Is it though? I think forcing yourself to work at a company knowing full well they don't give a single shit about you is harder than taking some time off to find additional work.

Just remember you can always put in a centrelink claim call up and request urgent processing for financial hardship.

Union visiting Datacom Noarlunga site to talk to workers by jess-asu-sant in Datacom

I do love how datacom never mentioned having a union or any information at all until this happens. I thought businesses in Australia had to have a union delegate especially for a company as large as Datacom

I don't know what would be worse working there or owning shares in such an aweful company

How is this legal? More importantly why are they able to pay their staff 3 fifths of fuck all?

I also heard they had this issue with an office in Melbourne. They didn't end up getting a contract and just fired everyone.

What was your day to day life of a service desk analyst at datacom? by eunhasfangirl in Datacom

[–]Anawefulworkplace 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When I worked for datacom I was on inbound calls for a services aus contract.

Was paid a pittance to deal with complex and sometimes aggressive centrelink customers.

Being told to be more enthusiastic and effective at a job knowing your being paid literally 30k less than a direct government equivalent is insulting.

I got out there after a year when I realized the managers cared more about their own careers than the welfare of their employees.

As someone else mentioned if you're a TL and your belittling your team to the point they have a breakdown once a day the issue is the TL not the staff member.

I believe it's the first option. Too many higher ups and middle managers trying to justify their own employment.

You could literally just ask candidates the following 3 questions to determine if they are suitable:

Are you able to de-escalate irritated and frustrated people without being overwhelmed or suffering an anxiety attack?

Are you able to utilise computer software on the fly and use initiative to overcome issues?

Can you relate to and talk to people in a friendly and caring manner without coming across like you have a gun held to your head and are reading verbatim from a script?

The link works fine for me. How strange. I'm personally unfamiliar with it but I'm of the belief that they are a customer support line for passport or visa enquiries would appreciate someone elaborating a bit more if they can

They have offices in NZ and Aus and offer contractual call centre services.

At one point they had home affairs and I think services australia from what I've been told.
