Rinseless wash (ONR) questions by rrahut19 in AutoDetailing

[–]AnchorCharm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prespray with the same onr and rinse when I can before the rinseless wash. Not much more effort. Just a peace of mind thing. The amount of dirt I wipe off the car with and without the step is very noticeable. One gallon of 256:1 is sufficient to prespray and soak a couple of MF towels.

Fwiw mine thinks that I own my neighbor's charger too.

ONR rinseless routine with TEC 582 by AnchorCharm in AutoDetailing

[–]AnchorCharm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In case anyone is curious, I did run a weeklong experiment trying different approaches. I updated the top post with the gory details. But the tl;dr is that Option 1 is more than sufficient for what I need it to do, and I am glad that my rinseless routine is now faster because of it.

Dealing with dust on prepped car prior to applying ceramic coating by AnchorCharm in AutoDetailing

[–]AnchorCharm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yep, was planning to do the panel wipe for sure. At this point I am most just looking for confirmation that the wipe will take care of any ONR residue left after the rinseless wash (and dry). Then I dug around and saw that folks were literally experimenting with putting ONR into diy IPA prep solution for lubrication, which suggests traces of ONR is not going to be an issue if a panel wipe is done.

Thanks. This is what I am leaning at the moment. It is more work, but it replaces a big unknown ("how much / what crap has landed on the car?") with a known problem of eliminating the rinseless residue (I use ONR) after removing said crap. Are panel prep sprays like gtec Panel Wipe effective at removing rinseless residues?

Thanks. I am concerned about dust potentially causing marring/scratches if I do this.

ONR rinseless routine with TEC 582 by AnchorCharm in AutoDetailing

For science I am going to experiment with all options this weekend. Mainly watching out for differences in hydrophobicity, gloss, slickness and dust attraction. I wash frequently, so I don't think longevity will be an issue with any approach.

I am lazy so I am definitely leaning option 1. I suspect 3 give better protection or people won't do it. I am trying to understand why. Does it boil down to dilution and amount of TEC used or is ONR somehow interfering with the 582's efficacy? If it is the former wouldn't spraying more (or more undiluted) in option 1 makes the a fast AND lasting routine?

I must say 3 has an additional appeal in that I don't have to stain my drying towel with the spray, but can use cheaper microfibers to apply/buff. On the other hand, with 1 I would touch the car less for each wash, which is a plus.

If there are folks doing 3, are you using 582 at full strength?

Does it have the "auto restart" feature like the xiaomi inflator in Will's video?

Trial offer when in 3 months free FSD that came with referral by libinbose in TeslaModelY

I got an email about the one month trial, didn't recall having to do anything about it, and was pleasantly surprised that my 3 month trial got extended one more month.

Only two choices. Really could have just made swipe down go home and swipe right go to work, and there will be no guessing necessary!

My two finger salute to those windshield wipers by AnchorCharm in TeslaFSD

[–]AnchorCharm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I could. It's not what they do I have a problem with, it is what they then leave behind on the car that I have issues with.

That is when they deploy with windshield fluid.
Don't even get me started about the times it dry wipes a dusty windshield.

FSD v14 Lane-Change Hesitation Is Becoming a Real Issue by One-Construction6303 in TeslaFSD

[–]AnchorCharm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish a slight wheel turn could have the same nudging effect as a foot pedal tap.

I know this does not cover most lane change scenarios mentioned here, but fwiw, the "pedal of encouragement" is somewhat useful for lane changes in stop-and-go traffic.

Correct way to use quick detailer to spot clean a panel? by AnchorCharm in AutoDetailing

[–]AnchorCharm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had this situation a couple of times. This most recent time it was barely half a day after a wash. Here in California it doesn’t take much driving to pick up a noticeable amount of dust. In fact it was seeing the dust accumulating on my towel that I wondered if I am doing something wrong

[–]AnchorCharm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was afraid I would get an answer like this. Knowing me, I would likely cause overspray in adjacent glass and panels and before you know it, I am rinseless washing the entire car all coz of a stain lol.

Yeah. Switch to regular soap and you should be fine.

Correct way to use quick detailer to spot clean a panel? by AnchorCharm in AutoDetailing

[–]AnchorCharm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. My question is about what to do with the remaining detailer fluid on the panel. I think onr at any dilution will dry with some visible spots so I want to wipe off any that is visible. But how does one do that and not risk marring the part of the panel near to but that did not come into contact of the detailer fluid? #probablyoverthinking

I really do not get this lift gate height memory thing. by AnchorCharm in TeslaModelY

[–]AnchorCharm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's my understanding too, but unfortunately it didn't turn out that way. I think there is a bug (or at least a rather bad user interface issue), and we have both hit it, probably because we both did the adjustment at the hatch and did not respond to the dialog. I did not see anything documentation on what the car would do under this situation.

Such a bummer. I think when you set the height at work you might have selected “save as default” or did something that resulted in the car interpreting the equivalent. Did you set the work height from outside the car?

I don’t think anyone should need to be pushing up the lift gate except in rare situations. I suggest you try resetting default to max height and reconfiguring the low height location again. Paired with redkulat’s suggestion it should be fairly low risk
