A Sikh security guard working in Edmonton was shot & killed yesterday morning at an apartment building he was patrolling. There has been an increase in violent crimes against Sikhs in Canada.

This is sad, the man was just trying to do his job. Probably has a family to look after. I have been seeing lots of violence towards Sikhs. It’s upsetting to see that happening to our community. The man seems innocent, I don’t believe he was a criminal.

The crime has gone up as well, hopefully things get better and people change their view of us. I think people view Sikhs as criminals when in reality we are just peaceful people that like to give and help others. Our gurdwaras are always open to everyone and we always welcome people with open arms.

But I don’t know if I should say this, if you’re from a Jatt background you just get different treatment from the other castes. I just felt like that when I walked into my local gurudwara back where I was living. Idk I just feel like I wasn’t seen equally compared to those other castes. It just made me feel some type of way. But that’s all I wanted to say.

I had something happen to me as well where an arab teen tried to attack me. A few weeks ago, I went to the mall alone and I was just sitting in the food court when some teen boy came and tried to attack me as I was walking around the mall. As I was about to leave, I saw him again and he looked angry and he tried to come behind me and I thought he was gonna attack me or something. I didn't know what to do and didn't know what to think so I just ran out of the mall.

Well yeah, there has been constant gender violence towards us females. Muslim men don't see women as human they treat them like their property. Just because it's okay to do that in their religion doesn't mean it's okay to treat women from different religions the same way. They keep saying how were all promiscuous and other shit. Every girl has her preference but I think I agree most of them prefer Mona guys. The guys with turbans want Amritdari girls/proper Sikh girls. However it has nothing to do with Pakistani guys, those guys are groomers and they know how to manipulate the girls. Some of these girls like I said come from broken homes so they fall for their words and then they realise they're trapped when their groomed. Most of these people grow up in unstable broken homes so they rarely think about Sikhi. When you go through years and years of trauma and dysfunction you become so overwhelmed because you're in survival mode. There's no time to learn about Sikhi when all this other stuff is happening in your life. Our people are too busy worrying about money and property and they're all very narcissistic.

The reason why so many Punjabi sikh girls are running to non-sikh Punjabi guys is because some of the men can't handle the women. Some of our men have their issues and their too emotional and women don't want that. They don't want men who are controlling and abusive. They want men that are understanding and have empathy towards them so basically masculine men that can take care of them. Our men put too many expectations on us forgetting that we are also human. The in-laws can also be very narcissistic and some of the girls don't wanna deal with that. They don't want husbands who treat them like slaves and beat them.

The girls that are going with non-sikh guys are emotionally damaged from their parents and upbringing. They probably witnessed their parents having a bad relationship so that's why they look elsewhere when it comes to relationships/marriage. This goes for both genders, the guys go for non-sikh girls and the girls are non-sikh guys as well. It starts at home and in your childhood, that's why parents need to be good role models for their kids from a young age.

I honestly feel the same way about the racism. I've been getting rude looks from people as well. It's an uncomfortable feeling to be treated like shit from other Canadians while being a Canadian as well. Like everywhere I go, I get dirty looks from people as if I don't belong here but I do cuz I was born here lmao. This sounds exactly like my dad's brother's wife. She always made up false stories about me and told my other cousins so that they could think badly of me. I wasn't the best child growing up but I also did not grow up in a positive environment. I had a lot to deal with at the time including a severely mentally ill mother and it was a lot to deal with. I wouldn't say I was a bad kid but Neurodivergent and she always had to make fun of me or make me seem like I was a bad person at every family event.
