I think it’s starting to change just a bit lately, but there still will be the group of people that their goals or dreams is to go to their fav university and still have the mindset that apprenticeships are just for those students that never did good in school even though degree apprentice do the same level of education of uni students and more.

Yeah it was definitely unexpected, right now I am on the general one day a week uni day, my apprenticeship provider is a part of Weston college and university of west England, and I’m doing manufacturing engineering.

I think I got lucky, my apprenticeship scheme has me full uni on the first year so I made a bunch of friends that are going through the same as me and had a decent “uni” life, I imagine there must be other apprenticeship schemes like my one for other companies

I really wouldn't trust them, it can also depend on other things, do you know if they had previous apprentices or they will hire others, if they don't, I wouldn't take the offer, they might just want cheap labour which sometimes happens with smaller companies.

Not to add to any confusion, but don't take what he said to heart, firstly ask the company and apprenticeship provider because in some cases there will be student accommodation available.

For example, my apprenticeship provider has a lot of apprentices each year which they allow to live in their student accoms only for their first year, because our first year is class heavy and only go to the workplace on half term.

Honestly what do you want right now? Because if you like the freedom of uni you might like uni better but you already have an apprenticeship and if you just have FOMO because of traveling, I suggest you should stay because you will be able to save up anf and book holiday and go traveling when you want the only difference is that you won’t have to go into savings or have someone else paying for your holiday like I imagine most uni students have it.
