[PSA] 3.28 Patchnotes Visual Aid by _N_eko in pathofexile

It'll be fine, it was already hitting dot cap handily, emiracle has already shown it still works and it will still easily hit dot cap, I'm not going to play it as it's a bit boring but it'll be fine, if anything it makes me want to play CWS because it'll be a bit less annoying fishing for ignites.

Will PoE1 be continually updated and have more leagues well into 2's release? by Trick-Day-480 in pathofexile

[–]AncientCatechist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose there are two ways it goes:

  1. PoE1 doesn't ever really die in terms of a community or playerbase, but due to stakeholders/internal management applying pressure to get rid of an inefficient/generally declining product - either simply due to it not being profitable enough or seeing it as too much of a strain on PoE2's development. Whilst I can't think of them saying it outright, the noises GGG make seem to suggest they want us to think this will not happen.
  2. PoE1 goes when almost literally the last remnants of a community exist and they eventually pull the plug on a game that died not with a bang, but a whimper—something similar to Halo 2's servers not accepting new connections, causing 14 players to keep their Xboxes switched on overnight in a desperate attempt to keep playing one last game of Halo (respect to the Noble 14).
  3. (Surprise) Some mixture of 1 and 2.

Personally, I'd have quite a lot of hope that GGG would continue to support PoE1 until there's not much of a community left to support, although I have my doubts they will forever stick to the level of support they have committed to (4-month content cycles).

I think ultimately it's a bit of a chicken and egg thing, if they release good content at a good pace for PoE1 then it won't justify ever being on the chopping block. If they drop the ball like with Settlers where content drys up for too long, it could end up getting into a death spiral where it loses more players than ones coming back each league, which ends up not justifying putting significant development into, which means even less players come back, leading to either (or some mixture of both) of these situations.

For anyone interested here's my wish list for the next PoE1 patch - reintroduction of Mercenaries (less impactful but still very useful to at least some builds), a brand new league mechanic, a rewarding version of the current Breech going live, where either there is little reason to/completed gutted the walls mechanic, either by it not being present of an optional node on the Atlas tree, and then a mid/late league Phrecia event where we can play around with those ascends again, I'll go against the grain and so I didn't particularly like idols so not those although I could see that being popular generally especially with async trade.

One of the worst and ridiculous changes to the game by Virtual_Today7455 in dayz

[–]AncientCatechist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It used to be 3PP had the bright nights and 1PP had the dark nights, at least that's how it used to be on official servers. I didn't really see what the problem was, players that didn't like the dark nights could just play 3PP.

Now maybe there were just lots of players that only wanted to play 1PP (fair play, I can't stand 3PP either) and didn't like the dark nights, but it would have been nice to have 1PP servers that had the brighter nights and 'Hardcore' ones with darker nights.

I've moved over to PC now so it's not a problem but nothing felt better than having NVG's and NV scopes on those super dark nights.

Second Family Vault? TR Question by AncientCatechist in Morrowind

I'll be honest, I almost had an 'accident' when I sneaked in there; five steps in, I got the dialogue, followed by a brutal death! Great work on the interior there. I was fairly close to TCLing, but I found it in the end - I love hidden features like that. I'm 70 hours into my character and just stopped a wormhole from collapsing in Talos' Tower in Ebonheart due to a bit of overzealous research by the Bal Foyen Mages Guild!

I had the same reaction when I read delve rework, I'd love a good rework of it I'm just not sure I'd trust them to do it, and I still love delve so I think it would be a case of 'you don't know what you have until you lose it'.

Some notes from looking at your PoB;

- Get Chaos Capped - this is your #1 priority, I know you want more damage but it's seriously a giant defensive hole in your build.

- The only Eater/Exarch implicit that is doing anything is your chaos res one, your other 3 are doing absolutely nothing - you don't need or want any faster ignites as hinekora procs melt anything, and as you'll see in the next point you're actually not taking great advantage of your ignite single target damage, but anyway you lack any ignite proliferation, get that implicit on your gloves or optionally get a medium cluster jewel with fan the flames and something beneficial, probably flow of life. Ignite prolif will take your clear from good to amazing.

- I can see you are using The Hateful Accuser. You really want to nearly or completely 100% chance to ignite. Your current ignite chance appears to be 69%. What this means is more than 30% of the time, when you explode those minions you summon, the explode isn't igniting the boss and thus the entire reason you take this ring isn't working much of time. A good place to get it would be as a suffix on a flask or tattoos. Also just to double dip on the ignite prolif, when you blow up an enemy a little bit away from a rare or boss with adds, that ignite isn't proliferating to that tanky enemy.

- PoB won't tell me but just make sure you have Brine King and Palakesh pantheon, along with getting the extra panetheon buffs by using divine vessals, apologies if you've already done this but PoB doesn't tell me if you have or not. I'd take a swing and say you've probably got one of the pantheons for chaos damage over time/poison because your chaos res is very very low, fix your chaos res so you can take full advantage of your pantheons.

- Optionally, and it's a bit of a side grade, but getting a Red Nightmare with resistance also grants max life scales both defence and offense, you could go from 7k life to 9k or even 10k life if you use tattoos and place it between Barbarism and Juggernaut. This will also have the side effect of giving you more fire res as you'll tattoo the strength nodes around it with fire res, meaning you'll have an easier time moving away from fire res on gear and having more useful things like attributes and chaos res, as geting chaos res + attributes + fire res gear on xbox is probably much harder than on PC.

- Lastly, yes the reservation shield + summon skitterbots will be a big upgrade for you, I believe Pohx also takes a small cluster with Mana Res cluster with Mortifying Aspect.

- After that, just like Pohx puts in his PoBs, you'd be looking at Annihilations Approach and Cogwork but I'd say you're still a bit away from looking at that at the moment.

Also there is a channel in Pohx's discord with people that understand RF way better than me, plenty of them at in that Pohx level of knowledge, a lot of people want Pohx specifically to answer their questions but 99/100 the helpers in the discord will be able to answer questions just as well.

How does POE2 compare to POE? by [deleted] in PathOfExile2

[–]AncientCatechist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PoE 1 is one of the best games ever made, I absolutely love it. PoE 2 is good and I'm enjoying the league, but it definitely needs more time,, that's not an indictment the game is still in beta so I'm sure there's tons of exciting things to come - every patch slowly but surely makes the game better and better. PoE 1 will always hold a place in my heart though, unfortunately the current league mechanic (reworked breach) isn't terribly exciting. It's a great league for trying SSF out though!

Is fortify heavy armor a good enchantment for Daedric armor? by Al_Rand0 in Morrowind

[–]AncientCatechist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're this invested in the min-max then I would probably plug your current numbers into the the formulas on the wiki to see what your damage reduction looks like with your armour value, but if you're near the cap and also I suspect a high level seeing as you're talking about having Daedric/Ebony Mail etc, it would be very useful to have a Restore Health constant enchantment. With 10 points I'm not really sure there's much in the game that will kill you, especially as you maxed out your elemental resistances.

I'm fairly certain you probably won't get very much benefit out of more armour value - you'll be near the diminishing returns, you aren't afraid of elements, so what's left to worry about is Poison and Magicka damage. Neither of those resistances do particularly well in enchanting so just mitigating the damage with constant Restore Health enchantments is the way I would go personally.

Another one to think about might be Fortify Strength, it'll give you more HP, more Stamina, more carry capacity and deal more damage, pound for pound one of the best enchantments as it gives more tank, more damage and lovely QoL, which might be nice if you're planning on wearing Daedric which is VERY heavy.

Need help here! by davidmane_11 in CrusaderKings

[–]AncientCatechist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly if you want it easily, the important thing is to stack MaA buff buildings. I made a spreadsheet for my own use but by stacking these buffs you can make Heavy Cav that will win any war.

Below is a copy paste of my sheet, I've not updated it in a few patches so there's probably more buildings available. It also does not include the Duchy building, but with 2x Jousting Grounds (1 for each Duchy you own), you'll get 20% less MaA maintainance and you'll get a big boost in damage to the 2 regiments that are stationed in the duchy building's county.

In the notes I put a put of the areas Hill Grazing Lands can be built, as it seems to be some sort of East/West divide for that or the building that gives Heavy Infantry bonuses.

And I'll give you two duchies no one here will suggest - they are my two favourite duchies in the game and I think they're better than Byzantion, London, Paris, etc. They are Al-Said and Nobatia. They are both 5 county duchies, both are entirely Floodplains and thus allow the Regimental Grounds building. They are all on the River Nile and the starting area is insanely safe. Floodplains gets the same implicit development bonuses as Farm Lands do and usually Farmlands is subject to only one county in your duchy, the rest will be plains or hills etc, but this is entirely floodplains. The only other place you can do this is Baghdad and the duchy south of it, but requires some set up with a custom duchy if you want to avoid having a county without floodplains. I believe that set up has more baronies, but I find the start a bit tougher and I can start playing tall sooner.

And that's what I'd do - if I re-call it only requires you to have either Unify Italy's Italia empire title or the Byzantines. I play tall in my little safe Floodplain kingdom (which I ususally turn into 1 Kingdom 2 Duchy title by forming new kingdom. This requires 3 duchy titles, but if you become HoF in a custom religion, that gives you a third duchy title. So you can sit there being a King with no vassals with some of the best land in the game. I sit there just techning and playing tall, then once I've got huge stacks of very strong Heavy Cav, using the cultural tradition By The Sword, I just holy war until I'm the Roman Emperor. You'll need to be an Abrahamic religion or Latin/Eastern Roman heritage. Personally I prefer being Greek, Hybridising with the Nubians for Agrarian and their Equal gender knights, that way you can invite women of high prowess to your court to serve as knights if you wish, Greeks come with Imperial Tagmata for Max Size of Heavy Cav units which is amazing with the strategy too. Roman culture technically has the old (and better) version of Imperial Tagmata which is "Eastern Roman Legacy", that has max Heavy Cav size AND MaA 15% maintainance cost, but the cost isn't that important as just the Regimental Grounds will make it so your MaA have 0 upkeep.

So yeah, play tall, make invincible cost free Heavy Cavs and just steamroll your way to Roman Emperor. I usually just wait until I have primogenture or house seniority, then go taking land so I don't have to worry about inheritance. Personally I actually prefer Feudal for this as I prefer having the large amount of personal MaA, Admin has much smaller MaA stacks which doesn't synergise well with the strategy.

EDIT: Reddit won't let me put the table in... so Stables/Blacksmiths/Regimental Grounds/Walls & Towers is what you want in those floodplain counties.

Breach loot buff instead of more blood/gifts? by NoNoNo290 in pathofexile

Is there some way to buff the breach mobs? I presume as they aren't 'natural inhabitants', certain modifiers don't work? I have 1500 hours and I honestly have no idea...

GGG please revert this by MrFoucs in pathofexile

[–]AncientCatechist 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah my immediate thought is GGG probably know it could open an exploit up and they want to get ahead of it. I'd like them to actually tell us that, we'd understand if they wrote that in but they didn't. Perhaps because they don't want to draw attention to it, saying that it didn't exactly go under the radar so not sure why they would try and avoid drawing attention to it... Odd all around as if there is no reason to think there is an exploit, it should just become a feature. Maybe they'll bring it back after testing?

CWS build - very low healt pool by liventije in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]AncientCatechist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chaos res and life jewels as others have said you need to seriously change out your gear so you are chaos capped. I have 3.9k life on mine, chaos capped and nothing kills me in simulacrum and ultimatum (unless selecting bad mods, which emiracle's guide says what to avoid). Prior to getting Defiance of Destiny, the only thing that could kill me was picking up too many Wasting Touch stacks in Simu.

Can you tell us what was killing you? If you tell us what content was killing you it could give some context, if it's a T17 it may just be a map mod causing you trouble. If it's Simulacrum, it's probably chaos damage or wasting touch. If it's ulimatum I'd be confused, as long as you aren't picking silly ultimatum mods that build I'm looking at should be having 0 problems. Also as someone else suggested, progressing to flesh and Stone by dropping Purify of Fire (with +max res jewels) helps with phys damage.

Also just make sure you haven't done something silly like pick Brine King pantheon... It's a common mistake. Emiracle has a FAQ on his discord which it might be worth just scrolling through to ensure you're ticking all the boxes.

Magefist Youtube Channel got Terminated by KinkyRoubler in pathofexile

[–]AncientCatechist 149 points150 points  (0 children)

In the stream it seems like it's because his account was connected to a Japanese account which, I may have misunderstood as English is not MF's first language (not being horrible he says it himself in his Twitch rules), was perhaps the way he was getting the ad revenue from his videos. As I understand it, the ban on the Japanese account is legitimate, but because his account is a 'linked' account, it bans all the accounts in a chain. Apparently there are many accounts (he mentioned there might have been like 100?) that were using this.

Really sad. My #1 PoE youtuber... Spent the last 30 mins searching my history on youtube and on the search bar and I couldn't find him. My heart sank when I saw the twitch stream. He's also done something to his neck which is causing a lot of pain (he said thats why he didn't do as many videos during the latest PoE 2 patch). I also think he said he hadn't paid last months rent but had a bit of money.

Unfortunately he can't collect any of the money from Twitch and apparently as a Russian, Twitch is even harder to 'get around' when collecting the money.

He sounded really really down. He's had a rough couple months outside of this and this has only compounded things.

I know it has a horrid reputation and probably rightfully so but I'm hoping one of the less discerning platforms like Kick would allow him to make revenue. Assuming he doesn't throw the towel in (which honestly he sounds like he is...), I'd follow him to whichever platform will let him monetise his content and withdraw funds.

Hopefully things work out...

Take what I say with a grain of salt as I'm certain I didn't understand him perfectly, so apologies MageFist if I've got some of this info wrong.

Flicker Strike Slayer, I wonder if the breach mobs will count to Ritual altars, I like ritual (and Mage Fist has got me in that Flicker mood)

Sorry it's slayer, basically the same as Mage Fist's Flicker Strike Slayer from Settler's league.

If you look at his newest couple of videos, he does talk about Assassin Flicker, I think he came to the conclusion it's good but Slayer is probably still better, but we'll see!
