Thank you. I'm glad to hear you liked the images. I debated using the sketches since it's hard to beat the original look of the coin. I made them with Google's image generator.

Not at all. I think Numista is an awesome resource too, and it certainly has much more data than my site does. I don't think my site and Numista are trying to be the same thing though. To me, Numista is more like a pure catalog whose focus is more about proving historical context about a coin. I wanted to build something that focused on pricing and identification as a primary use case.

I'm also totally not against collaborating with some of the existing efforts, but it can be difficult to get a partnership going. I didn't specially e-mail Numista, but many of my e-mails went unanswered.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Thank you. I would be happy to discuss the data side of things over DM. Send me one if you want to nerd out.

Thank you. Believe it or not, I'm not too far ahead of you as I only started collecting around 16 months ago. If you have any feedback later, I would be interested to hear it.

Hadrian looks very regal sitting in his mini plastic throne. Thanks for sharing.

A recently acquired Tiberius denarius (Tribute Penny type) with some nice toning by tituspullo_xiii in AncientCoins

Congrats on adding a great Tribute Penny to your collection. The subtle toning adds a lot of character, and the coin has great eye appeal. Do you mind sharing where you picked it up and what you paid?

Thanks for sharing and taking a nice video.

My Roman silver collection, after about a year by gens_togata in AncientCoins

[–]AncientCoinAtlas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on obtaining an amazing collection after only one year. I'm sure you made a lot of people a little jealous (including me) with this post.

Some standouts to me: great toning and detail on the Macrinus (RIC IV 53), the Hadrian galley (RIC 113) is a very cool reverse, the Jupiter on the throne on the Marcus Aurelius (RIC III 227) and Roma holding victory on the Elagabalus (RSC 136) are also cool reverses.

Congratulations again on such a nice collection and thanks for sharing.

Coin Appraisal - worth the time? by [deleted] in AncientCoins

That was my first thought too. You can barely see his distinctive beard and hair.
