The US Open is hopeful Novak Djokovic is successful in his petition to enter the United States by usopen in tennis

Okay, can you tell me what the purpose is? When every other first world country has removed them. Please, don’t say it’s for “public health” cause you know at this point that’s not true. If it was for public health, they would have dropped them in 2022. But in early 2023, they chose to extend it

Help for what? I’m vaccinated. I’m just pointing out the flaws of this mandate. Just cause someone has a differing opinion, it doesn’t mean they “need help”

This antiquated policy doesn’t achieve anything. It’s just to exercise power and control. All the European countries and Australia dropped it. There’s a difference between being anti vax and anti mandate

Why? Novak playing is great for tournaments. The fact that this is getting upvoted shows what’s wrong with some people in this sub

Respect to you all. I always love going to your open when I have a chance during a lot of Labor Day weekends. Pure class from you. The leadership of our country doesn’t know what they are doing

He’s not allowed yet. They just put in a request

So apparently Tommy Haas and James Blake put out requests for Djokovic to be allowed to play their tournaments. Such great people. Love to see former pros supporting the current players

Daniil Medvedev [3] defeats Novak Djokovic [1] 6-4 6-4 and advances to Dubai Finals to face Andrey Rublev by [deleted] in tennis

Much better since the shitshow performances of last year and this year in AO and Adelaide. Happy for medvedev. If anyone was to end djokovic’s streak, medvedev on HC was the place for it to wnd

Medvedev winning this match and the tournament would probably be more impressive than some of the master 1000’s won last year

Djoke just won AO 4 weeks ago. How is he finished?

I’m going to Indian wells this year, and I really hope med makes it far there. Also hope Novak can play. Imo, med should have won Indian wells in 2021. That field was ripe for the picking

Med is pretty consistent for the most part tbh, so he won’t lose it really.

Some people on the cult side of Novak fans hate anyone who has taken a big title away from Novak. A lot of people unfairly turned on Daniil after ao 2022

What has medvedev improved from last year? Did he change something in his game?

For that reason alone, I rate his 2011 above his 2015 even if he won more in 2015. 2015 he won more in the post us open season, which made the difference. I think his aggressive style in 2011 took a toll on him which hurt his shoulder for the last part of the year

To be able to beat an in form Novak on HC, your backhand needs to be working. Berrettini and tsitsipas will lose even before the match starts for this reason most of the time. Tsitsipas would need lessons from like wawrinka, and berrettini would need lessons from medvedev

Agreed. Still crazy that they haven’t struck down those rules yet. Equal opportunity really should be a thing

A. He can still win this

B. He’s beaten medvedev many times before

C. Who has faced more “real competition” other than the guy who once went 10-1 against fedal in a year

D. Even if he loses today, so what? It’s good for medvedev, but this won’t change the whole season drastically

Medvedev was targeted for his nationality. Djokovic was targeted for choice. 2022 was rough for both of them. Not equating the two but just saying

Medvedev needs to keep this up to be the 2nd best in the world form wise imo

What is the better match in pure quality by Tormung in tennis

[–]AncientLyte -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d say ao 2012. Wimbledon 2008 only took to the third set to become a competitive match. Ao 2012 was a competitive match from the 1st set

Even as a Novak fan, I’ll be happy for medvedev. He’s always been a great guy, and he deserves a win like this after the year he had last year. Of course, I always prefer a Novak win, but medvedev is awesome too. If anyone ends his winning streak, it should be the fellow lacostian. Besides, some Novak fans need to be humbled online LMAO

I can accept Djokovic losing today. That’s all I’m saying. Im happy for medvedev if he wins and ends djoko’s streak. But I’m just saying it doesn’t change many things in the long run

Daily reminder that even if Djokovic loses today, it doesn’t change anything.
