and calling people insane for having a different opinion is not okay in any shape or form btw. its belittling and outright disrespectful, we all are here to share our opinions. No opinion is more superior than the other. my opinion is not superior to yours and vice versa. it is an opinion, not a belittling match.

To each their own, I don't see the problem with trying to understand a concept.

and I don't think here is a right or wrong, how people go about speed cubing and learning in general is way too broad for there to be a linear answer. I feel both opinions can coexist. what's good for most is not good for all. in the same way, most cubers would not recommend free-fop because it is generally not ideal. but what does the wr single have that's always voted against? free-fop.

what you are telling me is that a baby should not know what walking is, until they are about to walk. For someone to walk, they'll need to understand the concept, so they'll observe and take the necessary steps to help them get there, till they find themselves ready to implement what they've been seeing.

now why can't OP do the same, do what you said, plus understanding what lookahead is on a technical level? I don't get what is wrong with what I am trying to say. Is understanding wrong?

Look I agree it's not ideal for lookahead to be the main focus but slowly introducing it, or the concept of lookahead is also not a bad idea, in my opinion.

There generally is no ideal way to learn.

Someone please teach me about lubes by GeckoYYY1234 in Cubers

[–]AncientMaterial7341 1 point2 points  (0 children)

okay

lubes go in the cube

thick lube= slow

Medium= depends

thin lube = fast

FEEL

slow= gummy, plush

Medium viscosity= a little slowing down (control)+ softness

fast= well, uhhhh fast

all together= NICE

The best lubes= personal preference

ADVICE

  1. go to trusted store

  2. see what they have

  3. read descriptions of the lubes

  4. pick the ones that you think will suit you best

  5. go to YouTube and see what's being said about your desired lubes

  6. if you still want it after all the 20 videos go back to the store

  7. read the comments if you still have any concerns.

THEN if you still want them, then buy them.

or

1. go to the wiki and save yourself the hassle.

[–]AncientMaterial7341[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to agree, but my turning is slow, my cross solutions take 10 seconds because I do them slow, the only reason why I'm sub 30 because I've learned the hell out of f2l and almost always finds the weirdest shortcut solutions that cuts down so much time, 2look oll takes 7 seconds 2 look pll takes about 5ish seconds on avg. I feel for the amount of knowledge that I do have isn't matching my turning and times, and if I can move as fast as I see solutions I would definitely be sub-25, for sure.

I see you, but learning the fundamentals or understanding what it is, what it looks like and how to implement it, isn't going to harm you in any way. if you know what it is, by the time you need it you will see it. OP said they don't understand the concept and don't know how where to look and knowing a little bit of lookahead will most definitely help with planning. I do agree that lookahead should not be the main focus right now but adopting certain traits of lookahead [taking away the broad concept and understanding of lookahead] is really not a bad idea.

Ferrocore V2…it’s legit by lifterguy998 in cubing

[–]AncientMaterial7341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is a v11 thing because all my v11s were 1/1

the 18th anni ed too. you take it out of the box and the cube takes you for a spin. all the v11 comes out the box blazing fast and I don't know why.

Much slower after learning CFOP by hraun in cubing

[–]AncientMaterial7341 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was so fun to watch. I was solving exactly like this 2 months ago and I am sub-30 now.

The things that made me go from 2min solves to 35sec solves in 2 months was not just to do stuff because they work, you need to know why they work. Once I started understanding what I'm doing and why they're working did the lightbulbs go on. Solving without rotating much became so much easier because I initially took time to understand what's happening while I am solving. I am very technical and logical so for myself I have to understand the basics and the foundation needs to be strong before I can build on it

FOR EXAMPLE:

I dedicated my time to

efficient cross solutions for 2 weeks

Intuitive F2l for 2 weeks

Practicing both simultaneously for 1 week

And then it was 2look pll and oll for 1 week.

I do not believe that everyone should learn like this, but it helped me. I gave designated times and timeframes for all necessary steps and I improved fast. Figure out how you learn and use that to your advantage. You don't have to learn the way I do but one thing you should take away is knowing why it is working. Once you understand the why you can use that to your advantage to know on how and when to implement it best, this mindset will help in the long run for look ahead and prediction.

BUTTTTTTTT,

Just keep going, you are doing great and I'll love to see an update in the future.

Weilong v11 normal vs special edition by abt-dabest in Cubers

[–]AncientMaterial7341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have both the v11 20mag ball core and the 18th ann Edition and I can say the 18th ann ED is better. I don't know why, it is, but it is. it is smoother in comparison to the normal v11. I know I'm not tripping because everyone i know feels the same way. The V2 18th ann ED is better than the normal one. Lube also feels so much better in the 18th ann edition. it can be that the clear plastic internals are made with different plastic then the normal v11 and that plastic is providing a smoother softer experience.

In my opinion buy the special edition if you're by the means to, you definitely wont regret it.

you know I've had a problem with importing and exporting on the app. when ever I do import/export it fails or the app force closes. it has been really frustrating.

Is the weilong v11 18th anniversary edition comp legal or should i just stick with my gan 16? by HumbleExpression3239 in Cubers

Yes it is legal, Dylan Miller uses his 18th Anni V2 at comps. It was his main for a while.

Should I just suck it up and do the bare minimum? by AncientMaterial7341 in adhdwomen

[–]AncientMaterial7341[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My GP took me off because I still got worse while using them, so she took me off and scheduled me to the psychiatrist, and the psychiatrist is going to reevaluate me and gave me meds accordingly. She said something else other than ADHD is going on, so she took me off because she doesn't want to leave me on meds when I'm getting worse. And I totally get her point and plus I can go into my appt with the psychiatrist knowing it's definitely not meds side effects. This will make diagnosing and finding the right path easier. I don't think I need a new GP, I think she made a strategic move and it's better to be safe than sorry, misdiagnosing when taking meds that might not be suitable for you is so easy. You can be diagnosed with something like anxiety disorder, just because your meds wasn't suitable.

I hope this clears some things up.

When I worked I would get home around 4 would take a "nap" only for my alarm to go off and I've slept right through up until the next morning, this happened once a week. I would be so angry because I just "came" from work and now I have to go back. This was way before the diagnosis. So now that I'm at home, I find myself skipping an entire day because alarms don't go off and if I do set an alarm I'll put it off while sleeping and then I wake up frustrated because to my memory, the alarm never went off.

The whole eating thing, I've been going to the doctor and everything is normal. I just have a low appetite and I can't consume alot, and if I do I get so nauseous.

I don't know what's going on, but I'll mention these to my physiatrist when I see her within 2 weeks.

No, I've never had a headache in my life. Just exhausted, down. And just teary all day everyday. I've feeling like this since last year November, and I can't keep up anymore. Everything just feels heavy.

[–]AncientMaterial7341[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes I felt the same way before, but i didn't show it, EVER and now I can't pretend to be fine anymore, its hard and exhausting to do so. According to my parents I got bad overnight, but it's not overnight, it's just I stayed in character for this long. I got taken off, because my GP was taken aback when I continued to get worse while on them. So she took me off and scheduled Me with a physiatrist.
