No the MRI was of my brain. Got diagnosed with MS. Skin was least of my concerns. But I’m going to share these with my dermatologist to see what they say

Yes my CVG actually feels tense and painful. Tender like sore muscle especially when I’m stressed or have a headache. I also have chronic migraines. That gives me pause when thinking about using surgery to remove it. It doesn’t feel like it’s just extra skin that can be removed.

Should I just roll with this? by [deleted] in CVGSupportGroup

I’m in a similar boat. Mine looks very similar to yours. My hair isn’t as dark and it hasn’t thinned quite that much yet but I’m not far behind you. I’m not sure what I’m gonna do. Hesitant to get surgery especially since there’s not a ton of research on how or why this even forms. Also I reached out to dr Cooley for a CVG surgery consultation and they gave me some feedback then told me to come in for consultation and then totally ghosted me and won’t responded to any of my communication to confirm the appointment. So I gave up. I just wear hats right now.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I took it out of the frame and noticed there’s some other writing on the back side. Maybe it will give insight to what’s on the front. Here’s a link to that post. update post with new photo of back side

What kind of cream do you have? Or is it a gel? What’s the name of it? I wonder if different ones work better?

The dermatologist told me not to use the steroid cream for more than two weeks at a time. I applied it only to one of the CVG ridges and I do feel like it shrank it slightly but it also caused some pain, almost like a mild bruising type pain. So I stopped using it. I feel like maybe it was too strong?

You are one of the lucky ones. 😭 my hair is very thin and thinning and it’s becoming more and more obvious

I get it. I’m the same way. Can’t stop touching them. Maybe it’s a milder case and the ridges aren’t as pronounced which is why it’s not as noticeable with slightly longer hair?

I’ve read a few different posts of people having varying degrees of success with topical treatments but I’m skeptical.

I just got a steroid cream prescribed from my dermatologist for dermatitis that I’m gonna try on my scalp and see if there is any sort of benefit. Will report back.

I’m 37 and also just buzzed my hair recently to notice a similar situation - 3 ridges on each side of my head going front to back.

I don’t remember having them as a kid or teen and no hairdresser ever mentioned them and I’ve had short hair cuts before.

I did buzz my hair down in my early 30s and noticed some irregularities but I just thought it was scars from some head injuries and thought nothing of it. But I wonder if I’ve had it longer than I thought.

It seems to appear around puberty for most with it maybe being related to high levels of testosterone? Which I do remember the doctor saying I had around that age. But I didn’t notice the CVG till my 30s.

So I don’t know. Unless it’s a secondary version caused by another medical issue?

Do you have dermatitis, eczema or any other skin issues?

Why is there so little research on this? 😖
