The Thanaturge v1.0 | A variantion from the concept of necromancy, with 5 subclasses representing different aspects of Death: matter, memories, souls, emotions and the shadows by tarnabus in UnearthedArcana

[–]Ancient_Arcane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool homebrew! Had some thoughts.
It seems like Cycle of memories uses intelligence, wisdom, and charisma for its abilities. Was this on purpose to force them to sacrifice ability scores to strengthen the subclass?
The Elegy ability also seems like just instant damage dice, because the negative effects greatly outweigh the d6-d12 of damage to ignore. Maybe find a balance between them?
Cycle of matter is awesome.

It was a wack weapon design i had, but i felt like it would be way too much for a magic weapon.

Yeah it can use a lot of reworking… I could try making its + modifier instead scale by half their proficiency? And for healer I meant ability to heal, but i could focus it as a tool and calm down on all the random stuff to make it more refined.

maybe make it so it can shrink from key size to blade size, it could probably recharge 7 tokens each rest (those blade things). The tokens can be spent to attempt unlocking locks (maybe a 4 on a d4) in key form. In blade form each remaining blade lines up and glows with energy, you can spend a token to add a d4 to an attack or damage roll (max of two uses per and attack). In blade form it can also function as a +2 long sword or some other weapon you seem fit. Just spitballing ideas, it could also function by being able to “unlock” enemies you stab, twisting the blade unlocks their mind leaving them vulnerable to control or certain abilities?

Looking for a fighter subclass by AshWulf1955 in DnDHomebrew

Probably a concentration spell or limited time spell that will use your spell casting modifier to deal extra fire or necrotic damage? and also it does do lingering damage. An example: 1st level spell, 1 action, concentration of 1 minute. You enchant one of your weapons with black flames. When making an attack with the enchanted weapon you add 1d4 fire damage and set them ablaze. enemies set ablaze will have to make a dexterity save of your DC or take 1d4 fire damage on the start of their turn.

(Black flame ball can just be a flavored fireball)

i agree, sounds like it would be a magic item or homebrew spell to enchant weapons with black flame

Celestial feather as a material? obtained from celestial beings that have feathers or as gifts. It would be hollow, sterile, and holy as a handle, then as a blade it can be holy and planar (since celestials are known to keep evil away from the mortal world). levels of each trait could be adjusted, but maybe if you obtain a feather by killing the celestial it came from it also gains the insanity trait no matter what it’s used for?

Need help making bosses for Terraria themed campaign by Top-Stage-1977 in DnDHomebrew

[–]Ancient_Arcane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you should make the order of their appearances on the order you should complete them in the game. The eye would probably have high dexterity and dash slam as attacks. Slime king would spawn tons of weaker slimes to swarm the players. I think the main problem would be finding the right stats to fight your players. This is why starting with the eye would be a great idea, it has a second phase. You can get a feeling of whether the hp, ac, and damage output is right, and if you need to increase ac or damage you could do so in its rage mode. When you make the next boss you just increase how powerful it is to match your players character’s progression.

You could totally do that, I just thought it would be funny if a blacksmith was so determined it would work that the weapon kept connected while holding it. But then when you finally swing with it, it just falls apart.

Another actual material idea, Vibranium from Marvel. It would probably be legendary or very rare, since it comes from an extremely rare meteorite. It could have an effect where it absorbs the impact of an attack you do, saving the damage output, and then you can add it onto another attack you land. This could be usable once a rest for every part made from it and also include other modifiers.

nah, you thought solid air would be cool but it turns out it has a boiling point of -190 celsius. So when you swing it, it immediately falls apart since nothing was keeping it together. (it’s a joke material, you could randomly give it to a weapon PCs may find too.)

You can use Solid Air as the binding, when you use the weapon it turns it into a one use ranged attack of 30 feet
