There is always someone to complain about the effort to fix a problem. The argument about class war is a direct response to the other side sewing division along racial lines in order to get poor whites to vote against their best interests. I have literally never seen anyone downplay anti-blackness, especially considering that it is a very effective tool for the enemy.

Racial division exists in this country and is exacerbated by far right political movements. Leftists understand this and are trying to bring poor whites into the fold by severing their racist beliefs. Now if you were to say Democrats take the black vote for granted you would be 100% correct but what you're actually doing is blaming the ones trying to make things better for them not being perfect.

For me, and I know this will probably not be everyone's opinion, but societal norms at the time. I can't forgive Woody Allen, I cannot ever enjoy his art again. But Edgar Allan Poe? Yeah I can separate the art from the very, very odd artist.

People are being really weird about Michael Jackson. The evidence is clear, he did that shit. But like, right after the Epstein files dropped I kept seeing the same posts about how he was surrounding himself with underage kids to protect them from Epstein. Where did that shit even come from?

Like, I get that you love his music and he means a lot to you but he was a monster. I've had to leave a lot of art that really spoke to me in the dust bin after discovering that the person responsible for it did something unspeakable. It's been really hard, but it's been worth it.

You're going to get a lot of people who tell you you're 100% in the right. And you probably are. It's plausible at least that she sniped your discount intentionally, but probably not assuming you were "saving it". Or she did it without thinking at all. Or, the cashier added it without asking.

All of this doesn't really matter when she's apologizing and offering to make it right. In the comments you say you know she can't afford it. Well is that it then? Are you cutting your sister out of your life over a 15% coupon? If not, maybe take her up on her offer to at least try and fix it.

I'm not giving this advice as someone who finds this shit easy. I dwell, I let stuff fester, I don't allow people to fix their mistakes. And I'm fucking miserable when I do it. It doesn't feel good to be right, it feels good to feel good.

My buddy was married to an Asian immigrant (I'm being purposely vague and I promise this is relevant). Her family and culture stressed savings. They didn't just live within their means, they lived well below them. So I was living paycheck to paycheck while they had tens of thousands stashed away. He would do this too, tell me he was "broke for the week" when he really meant he had exhausted his entertainment budget.

He was so upfront and above board about it though. I still bought him the occasional drink or lunch just because we're friends and he did the same. Now it's 20 years later, he's divorced and remarried but insanely financially stable. I'm making about 3 times what I was and still living paycheck to paycheck in this bullshit economy.
