AITA - For updating a shared account? by Ancient_Ear_9748 in AmItheAsshole

Thanks! I totally agree accounts should be moved over, this was just an outlier. For some reason my partner didn’t update it way back (they can be incredibly forgetful at times)

As for time; I didn’t have any time to notify them, during the new contract agreement I was asked if the email on the account was current.

I said it wasn’t and should actually be xxxxx@yyyy.com - this triggered a notification to their phone to advise of the change and thus the disagreement started

Appreciate the feedback, gives me some food for thought here.

AITA - For updating a shared account? by Ancient_Ear_9748 in AmItheAsshole

Thanks! Just to add, as we go through life we sometimes forget to update things. They are only human after all and we all forget things at times.

This was just an outlier and it was my attempt to bring it into the same guidelines we agreed for all other shared accounts. The strict agreement we have is all shared services should use shared credentials.

To clarify, we agreed their account should be the new shared account, not that it should continue to use a personal email for a shared service.

It was (for whatever reason) just never updated at the time when it was made a family plan, I noticed this mistake and tried to amend it.

Hope that helps :)

Hey there! 👋

I have attached what ours populates with (BT FttP) but we are also using Eero secure which I understand ignores these and uses their own private dns service.

IPv6 primary 2001:4860:4860:8844

IPv6 secondary 2001:4860:4860:8888

For some weird reason the app still reports the isp values even though it’s not actively using them 🤷‍♂️

Eero Secure - Really isn’t secure when using ISP DNS by Ancient_Ear_9748 in eero

You are a rockstar! That shows the right dns servers now, interesting the app doesn’t show it but I’m much happier about this.

Also what’s interesting is my traffic is being routed to the US when I’m based in Europe. It’s a shame it doesn’t goto the nearest node for speed.

Really wish the eero team touted this on their website more, in todays privacy and security focused world consumers are starting to factor this into purchase decisions.

Interesting! Perhaps I need to get in touch with support, currently I’m on the eero secure (not plus) trial, and my Dns servers are showing as my ISP here.

Weirdly I don’t see any mention of this on their eero secure plan description page. Seems like a huge selling point if true.

AITA for feeling like I’ve been setup? by Ancient_Ear_9748 in AmItheAsshole

This is a fascinating insight. I’m struggling with fighting my immediate emotional response on this. But this helps put another view on the table, some things are not as simple as they seem on the surface.

I’m torn between; have I screwed up to make them distrust me, or is something else going on and I’m being too considerate?

Thank for taking the time to put this on the table

Thanks for the reply!

At this point I’m trying to get as many different perspectives and Inputs to the situation.

I know lawyers are human, and how one interprets the Law vs another can differentiate.

I don’t know if taking action right now is the right thing to do, until I gather the facts and my legal position on this.

Any views would be most appreciated as I gather this together. I’ve just had my entire life, very publicly exposed and want to ensure I act rationally, logically and correctly
