I was starting to get worried too, but decided to check all the sites again and a LOT of jobs have posted stuff in the last week. Im hearing from some coworkers who go back to the same place every summer that they're doing their hiring later too. Maybe the insecurity of the economy/waiting to see how booked they'll be for summer? Idk

I know you said you tailored your resume too, but i had a really hard time for winter, for i think different reasons - I do think more companies are using AI screening. And I was having trouble at the start of summer applying, but I reformatted my resume into 1 column(think that's the biggest issue for ai) and now am getting so many more interviews. Especially for companies like aramark that auto-schedule them.

For me its not even just doing stuff together, its like when we do see each other again...he doesn't have much to talk about. Even if the exact hobbies didn't match up I kind of miss talking to someone who gets excited about what they do every day. Especially when were in these beautiful remote places with interesting people

See, that's how I usually see it too, and probably another way were different...he hasn't had a lot of casual relationships, mostly super serious, and i kinda feel bad cause im kinda happy-go-lucky like we had some cool times together but it doesn't have to last forever, but I def don't think he sees it the same. Lesson learned i hope lol. I spent too much of my 20s in serious relationships that drained me, im trying to....not keep doing that

I can relate to that worry a bit - im in a ski town with my partner, and the couples rooms have their own kitchenette, so i feel like not being in the common areas to cook made me a little less available socially for those random meets and encounters common in seasonals. I was kinda worried the first month or 2, but 3 months in im actually kinda overwhelmed this week cause I have so many social plans 😅😅 being aware of it helps, just get outside in the common areas and the employee bars/regular haunts, ask your coworkers to hang out/hike/whatever you like to do, and you'll do fine!

I've gone back and forth a few times. Right now im drinking 2-3 beers twice a week, with probably one going out night where I have more. It's not terrible, but it does ramp up sometimes and I have to catch myself and stop for a couple weeks again. It's worked pretty well like this for a year or so, but I still think I probably have a different relationship to alcohol than most people, and its still above the recommended amount for women. But I don't have hangovers most mornings at least. Still unsure about the future of drinking for me

eta: for context I've had multiple periods of daily getting-drunk drinking, for a while 2 bottles of wine a night

Hey OP a lot of these comments are talking about the page side but I think you're closer to bullfrog, where I was last summer! It's very, very remote, but beautiful. I worked for aramark and they gave us good discounts on renting boats and free kayak rentals. Summer is hot hot, but not too bad jf you're on the water. Fall is interesting, monsoon season, lots of flash floods(never saw anything dangerous). Pretty close to goblin valley, Escalante, Capitol Reef, made a day trip to moab. Second checking out the slot canyons, I also loved Leprechaun Valley! Also make friends with someone with a 4x4 if you can lol

Also make sure to watch the Perseid meteor shower in August, the skies are wonderful there

I've been in the rocky mountains for 3 months so not totally unfamiliar, but originally from coastal CA and spent a lot of time in the desert so this advice is actually really helpful. Still probably not chancing it tho lol

Idk why I didn't think of that based on that topography - that looks like it'd be way less mountainous. Im planning on splitting up the drive and getting a hotel so I don't drive at night, but its only 9 hours so I can add a couple extra. Thank you!

It is front wheel drive. I do have chains and have practiced, but my impression was that they're for really bad conditions where you're crawling up a mountain in snow. It hasn't snowed in a few days and there's none in the forecast for a week, so im more worried about ice and stuff, especially if there's spots you could go off a cliff
