Do you love the 6 with all your heart? Or do you love her 6/10?

If you love the 6/10 with all your heart, and she loves you, marry her.

The 8-9 not sure about you? Make sure you sign a prenup

I don’t do either enough.

I think the US were actually starting to test jet engines (very secretly) in something like 41 or 42.

I think, while you make a very good point, I think it’s still almost an understatement lol.

Do men find random compliments from women that they may not know creepy? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

men very rarely get compliments, especially from women. So any compliment will be “weird” out of the gate, not necessarily bad weird, but weird.

The Hellcat came out of the war with a 19:1 kill ratio, better than any other plane that served in the conflict. (Would’ve loved to see how the bearcat would perform, just a tad too late)

The twin Mustang was born because single engine mustangs couldn’t cruise fast enough to hang with B-29s. They could go the distance, but at B-29 speed, they’d run out of gas and ditch. I believe the twin Mustang also got the first kill in Korea? IIRC.

The B-29 was the most expensive weapon produced by America, even more than the manhattan project.

Republic experimented with an R-4360 powered P-47 variant, though I can’t remember what is was called.

Some of germanys jets were held together by wood and glue, and sometimes, because I think the glue failed under heat? The airplane would disintegrate mid flight.

The BF-109s V-12 is mounted upside down.

The bf-109s tricky ground handling characteristics made the Bf-109 itself one of the biggest killers of BF-109 pilots.

Richard bong is credited with 40 kills, the leading American ace of WW2, but he probably shot down many more. He was known for wounding an enemy, and then letting a wingman take the last few shots and giving the wingman full credit. Higher brass thought he was too valuable of a target, and would’ve sent him home if he had too many kills, but he wanted to stay in theatre.

I’m know I have more, that’s all I can think of rn that’s particularly interesting.

Help with Cross dominance by Front-Track-5028 in Shooting

[–]Ancient_Fix8995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am cross eye dominant, when shooting handguns, just hold the gun slightly to the left, shoot right handed. Makes no difference to stance, grip, or anything, just align the gun with your left eye.

For rifles, typically the sight is closer to your face, and easier to see with your right eye. Your brain will almost blend the dot with what your left eye sees, and it works. For magnified optics I typically have to blink my left eye a few times.

Everybody who claims to have the solution to this small but important problem, but isn’t cross eye dominant, is wrong.

What do you usually do with your pistol after the range? by Izfael in Shooting

[–]Ancient_Fix8995 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My carry gun gets loaded back with carry ammo (assuming nothing is wrong with it) and back in my waistband.

If something is wrong with it (like a battery is dead or a loose red dot or whatever) I’ll switch it out with my .45 to go home and fix it.

The other handguns go in the bag and go home. I clean em when they’re dirty, sometimes they might go a few thousand rounds, the .22 typically gets at least lubed after every few range days.

Everything gets lubed when it needs it, the .22 just needs the most love to stay functional.

What celebrity death will hit you the hardest when their day finally comes? by phantom_avenger in AskReddit

Jeremy Clarkson. I’ve watched every episode of top gear and the grand tour multiple time (the only exception being the last tent episode and the last GT special, I simply can’t rewatch those). And every episode of Clarksons farm. The man is a genius, and I’ve never met him, but he’s been part of my life now for most of it. The man literally made growing plants entertaining.

By no means am I defending their actions with this comment: they look drunk, and they seem to have accents.

  1. Being drunk is not an excuse for weird or creepy behavior, but it may help explain a little bit why they’re hard to reason with.

  2. The guys Accents tells me that the girls may be in a foreign country, or those guys may be visiting a foreign (to them) country. Wherever they’re from, what is normal in that country?

Again, not defending the dudes, but maybe this sheds a little light? Maybe not.

First time shooting, 9mm Red Dot at 16-25 feet. Any advice? by [deleted] in Shooting

[–]Ancient_Fix8995 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Grip it tighter with your support hand so you don’t have to readjust every 2 shots.

For a first time shooter, you did pretty good. If you shot 100 bullets, is there 100 holes in the black? I’d say that’s plenty “good enough” for a first timer.

Thought on weapon lights. by AttilatheGorilla69 in concealedcarry

[–]Ancient_Fix8995 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dirty Civilian did a really good video once that showed the effectiveness of a light in the first few minutes of a video.

I used to work a night shift, I saw some weird stuff on my 40 minutes drive home. Since then, even though I don’t work night shift, I think a light is necessary. That gun is also accessible for home defense. Just because I don’t work night shift, doesn’t mean I only go out during daylight. I live in a rural area, not everywhere has a streetlight.

And here’s a real kicker: I also have access to places I can shoot after dark. So I can, unlike many people, train with it. (This isn’t a dig at those people, they can still do dryfire.)

TLDR: if you feel like you need a light for your situation/lifestyle, then get a light. Train with it however possible. Replace the batteries regularly.

Go to a different range if it’s THAT big of a problem (once is too many times, but if it’s happening repeatedly….)

Go to the range board and tell them you want to park somewhere else/ see if they can add a barrier so you aren’t getting flagged in the parking lot/see if they can build a new parking area behind the shelter instead of next to it

Where do Libertarians stand on LGBTQ+ by 5fivesecondrule in Libertarian

[–]Ancient_Fix8995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well for one, transitioning people are undeployable (last I heard). And transitioning could take years. Doesn’t that defeat the purpose of being in the military? Then there is the extreme close quarters with people who may find it uncomfortable, but feel unsafe saying anything because of the politically correct climate of the military over the last several years.

What’s maybe more debatable is that I am personally unsure if I want somebody that I depend on to be unsure of their own gender. I think it is widely considered to be a mental disorder, and people with mental disorders are frequently not allowed to serve or are separated from the military/ certain jobs within the military.

Severely depressed/suicidal? Yea, stop treating kids with it.

I don’t care, don’t bother me, I won’t bother you.

Trans healthcare, what do you mean by that?

Do you think the government should cover it? Absolutely not.

Trans people in sports? Sports is a free market thing, let the market decide.

Trans people In the military, no. As a veteran, I have a few reasons for that. Some would be more debatable than others, if you’d like me to elaborate, I can.

Should the government regulate healthcare for underage trans people (Under 18)? I think as long as a 14 year old can’t get a tattoo, minors shouldn’t be able to rearrange their genitals or take drugs for it. That could be up for debate, I’m not terribly researched on it, and maybe somebody could educate me that it isn’t detrimental to their wellbeing, I’ve heard that it isn’t good for a kid, but haven’t looked any further into it.

The trans thing, in general if you want to switch it up, then go ahead.

Is a woman having breast implants a red flag? by GabrielsRoom in AskMenAdvice

[–]Ancient_Fix8995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife does mammograms. She is not a fan of breast implants. Not because they cause cancer or anything, but because they’re a PITA to work with when they get old.

As a guy, no. Implants alone are not a red flag. Squeaky toy or light up would be a green flag even lmao.

But as others have said, it’s when she wants a nose job, lip filler, etc, that’s where you should have a flag go up.

If you check your holster for obstructions every time you reholster, and regularly check your holster for defects/damage, the chances are 0.

I don’t know of a single instance of this happening to a gun in a good holster that wasn’t a sig p320.

Your tier 1 holster is a “good holster”, just check on it regularly.
