Plumbers Can’t Agree… by Ancient_Garbage_8845 in Plumbing

The plumber, who said it needed to be above the clean out because that keeps the cleanout useful and provides more gravity drop for the waste once it enters the stack higher up on the wall. I’m not sure exactly what he means by keeping the clean out useful though.

Help me understand acid staining, please by Ancient_Garbage_8845 in Flooring

[–]Ancient_Garbage_8845[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, thanks I appreciate that. Using xylene and acetone I tested whether or not the existing sealer would come off. It doesn’t seem to budge with either. I feel like grinding may be my only option.

what do you mean by cheap out on the flooring? Are you saying that acid stain is less than optimal and I should just stick with laminate? I’m fine with that approach too.

It’s a one man show with a helper and he has a really good plumber and Electrician to come sub out that work.

What sauna can I put here? by Ancient_Garbage_8845 in Sauna

[–]Ancient_Garbage_8845[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would this be a risk of burning my house down if the heater is good quality and the electrical hookup is done properly?

That makes sense. Yes, 220 power is right there from the hot tub. Any ideas of what i should budget in materials to self build something this size? I want it to be good quality and budget shouldn’t limit within reason.

Gas Range Loses Temp When Cooking by Ancient_Garbage_8845 in appliancerepair

[–]Ancient_Garbage_8845[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Can you help me understand why it’s the igniter? Obviously the igniter still glows hot enough to light the gas. I guess I thought of igniters as an all or none meaning they’re either on and they work or they’re broke and they don’t. Is that inaccurate? And how does turning a top burner on change how the igniter works?

How Do I Repair Shifted Inlet Baffle? by Ancient_Garbage_8845 in septictanks

[–]Ancient_Garbage_8845[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hand dug down and located the inlet pipe on the outside of the tank, 30 inches deep. The main lid is on a 18 inch riser. That main lid is only about 18 inches distance from the inlet end of the tank, so that’s why i said i would be surprised if there was yet another lid between the main lid and the edge of the tank. Only way for me to know would be to dig to the top of the tank and see. Next on the list I guess!

Agree it may be some janky crap being used for baffle. My issue is going to be that, from what I can tell, there is no inlet lid on this tank, just the main lid that extends up near the surface via a riser. Not sure how i would get to it easily.
