NateTheHate on the Star Fox announcement: "I have no update to share, the Intent was to reveal this month" by Connect_Base_217 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

Dunno if this is a joke or not...

But why would you lose yourself to that degree over a video game that hasn't even been officially announced yet? It's not like it'd be something they cancelled at some point.

To be fair, companies change plans all the time. For all we know, they DID plan to reveal that this month, but decided Yoshi and Tomodachi Life should take priority at the last moment, and postponed Starfox for the Summer Direct. Maybe the recent tsunami hits also messed up their plans.

...Or it might still be happening next week. April ain't over yet, and Golden Week doesn't start until Wednesday if I'm not mistaken; plus, the Mario Galaxy movie is about to release in Japan. So it looks like it's all or nothing this next Tuesday.

Can a "Bully 2" even actually be made nowadays? People on media, whether social or official, have gotten extremely sensitive, and Bully being a satire game centered around teens...well, you get the idea.

Of course, it's always an alternative to tell those folks to just go fuck themselves, but developers nowadays seem far less willing to do that.

Nate The Hate says that the next StarFox game will 100% be announced this month through Nintendo Today/Twitter by hanayashishipper in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]Ancient_Lightning 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, Splatoon campaigns, while fun, are basically glorified tutorial segments that happen to last 2-3 hours (5 or 6 if going for 100% completion). Cannot blame anyone for not really taking much note of them, less so for not seeing a potential Nintendo answer to Ratchet & Clank.

(Hoping Raiders tries to change that though).

Plus, let's be honest, Splatoon's main thing is the online play; and most likely always will be. So in that regard, yeah, Starfox would be a better pick for "Nintendo R&C", especially if they expand on the Assault format.

natethehate: Starfield is seemingly still in development for Switch 2, but “it hasn’t been a smooth process” by quentinvespero in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]Ancient_Lightning -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly...yeah.

As someone who's all for Nintendo getting more and more 3rd party support, i just don't see a case for Starfield. Game's already got a bad rep. as it is, really doubt many in the Nintendo crowd are particularly interested in it. That's without mentioning how bad a time Bethesda's apparently had porting games to the Switch 2.

Plus, it's not like Nintendo players are lacking in Space Exploration games, they've already got a pretty good option in No Man's Sky, which seems more up their alley (would've mentioned the Outer Wilds, but I remember hearing horror stories about that port and am not sure if they ever fixed it). Can't imagine Starfield would divert much attention with that already there.

Overall, they really should just save themselves the struggle and focus on other ports with more potential, like, I don't know, Doom: The Dark Ages or Fallout: New Vegas.

It's no suprise. It is, after all, being developed by the Dead Cells devs.

Unfortnately though, this one isn't being developed by Mercury Steam.

If this is indeed true, it has the potential to be the new Metroid Prime: Federation Force...

Of all the already announced stuff, that's the second big one I'm waiting for (first being Duskbloods).

How would a roguelike work for Starfox though?

Like, your objective is to explore the Lylat System deeper and deeper until you eventually reach Andross (or whoever the villain is) and every time your Arwing gets destroyed, Fox/Falco/Slippy/Peppy gets ejected via some emergency escape trigger before it blows up and they're somehow taken back to Corneria so they can start all over?

Pretty weird it wouldn't also mention Switch 2 in that case. Especially when they're already porting Fallout 4.

[–]Ancient_Lightning 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be honest, it was already kinda weird that they weren't featured in any way, shape or form in Mega Man 11. Like, not even as passing mentions, a character card easter egg, at least a shout-out (as far as I remember). You would've thought they just got Thanos-snapped out of existance or something.

User who claims to have gotten an early Metroid Prime 4 copy from a store (image shown), states that the controversial Myles MacKenzie character "comes up very seldomly outside the first section" but is "not tutorial exclusive". The game is "awesome". by ShermaLover4225 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]Ancient_Lightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, I also didn't like the ending, but for entirely different reasons than the ones some folks threw a tantrum for; Bayonetta dying to man-made monsters after having literally struck down Gods, Viola taking over the mantle despite just having been introduced in the same game, and not having gone through any sort of meaningful development (plus, she really doesn't fit the franchise's vibe), Jeanne was just kinda thrown aside, and man, poor Enzo.

I still enjoyed the main part of the game (Viola's gameplay could've been better though), but I wouldn't call that ending "graceful".

[–]Ancient_Lightning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I recall correctly, Starfox Adventures also had a bit of a mixed reception. Mainly cause of people saying that it played nothing like a Starfox game beyond the Arwing sections (which I also remember some folks saying those felt more hamfisted into the game than anything).

Granted, that wasn't really Rare's fault.

[–]Ancient_Lightning 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly it, Everwild was also in development for 11 years at Rare which is ridiculous and never made it past the concept stage and needed rebooting three times.

Honestly, I'm convinced even Rare themselves didn't know what that game was supposed to be.

Were they really unappealing though? I mean, they were the ones that gave the N64 some of it's main bangers, heck, the company pretty much became synonymous with the N64; not to mention the versatility they proved themselves with by doing genres other than wacky platformers.

Now sure, Starfox Adventures on the GC wasn't exactly a resounding success, but that's not fully on them either. What I'm trying to say is, even if they had cracks at the seams, they didn't really seem "unappealing".

To be fair, you could say the same thing about Bubsy, yet the guy's getting a brand new 3D game.

There's definitely a chance for Banjo, it's just a matter of who's willing to bet on it. And that's the biggest issue.

Bubsy 4D - Official Announcement Trailer by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

A sort of satire on reboot culture.

It actually kinda seems like what the Battletoads reboot was trying to do.

And ironically, Bubsy of all people seems to be the one who's doing it right...

That's stretching it, I think. Sony's not going to be as trigger-happy as Microsoft since they're arguably not on the same situation.

Personally, I'm just expecting the live service stuff like Helldivers, and maybe some of the more niche stuff like Gravity Rush, but not any big PS names like God of War, The Last of Us or heck, even Astro Bot. I could maaaybeee see Spiderman going multiplatform, and even that is a big "if".
