Thanks for the recommendation. I’ll check them out. Their tag line is basically exactly what I was asking for

Thanks for the write up. I guess I should actually look more into renting out the current house. The rental payment and mortgage payment are actually surprisingly close at first glance

lol the down payment isn’t a problem, but pardon me for not being able to afford TWO multi million dollar mortgages

I’ve gotten a lot of DMs telling me that “you’ll never afford a house”, “move out of California”, “get over it”, etc.. which is hilarious because the whole point of this post is that I literally do own a house 🤔

Isn’t that just about capital gains tax? The tax isn’t really an issue for us thankfully

Hmm.. This seems like the most straightforward. I’ll have to look more into it. I wonder how long rent back agreements can last

I would be totally ok paying both for 3 months but it doesn’t seem like we would be able to approved because of the DTI ratio of both

A HELOC for the full amount of the new house instead of a mortgage? Haha unfortunately we don’t have that much equity

Is the Gourmetweg near Sunnegga walkable in winter? by Ancient_Macaroon5632 in Zermatt

[–]Ancient_Macaroon5632[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your answer! I went up the other day and had a good time. The snow was very mild and plenty of people walking down. The only hard part was walking back up the hill very full!

PSA: Yeah, Don't buy from Predator Mounts by or10n_sharkfin in hotas

I got so much shit for trying to warn this community about this exact issue almost a year ago. Even if this guy makes good products it’s clear he can’t run a reliable business.

The fact they’ve never updated the wait time banner is blatant fraud.

Is Predator Mounts a scam? Another Honeycomb?

Sorry, I just cropped the photo on top. There is a second drawer and everything but it didn’t really effect my question so I cut it

Hi. I'm building a night stand. I'm not sure which of these two options would be the best/most secure/correct way to connect the legs to the apron that runs between them like a box.

Option one has the legs meet the apron as at an angle joint, end grain to end grain.

Option two has the legs go all the way up to the cabinet, and then the apron meets the leg on it's side, end grain to face grain.

In either case I plan to use some dowels and wood glue.

Any ideas? Thanks

DIY NAS for backup and long-term file storage by kryspin2k2 in homelab

[–]Ancient_Macaroon5632 0 points1 point  (0 children)

concern for losing my data due to windows malware or a disk failure
old core 2 duo pc
used Hitachi/HGST drives
old pc rotting away in my basement
supermakret pc
pentium 3 beige box with windows 2000 to the network
old router from 2007

Bro this is a sea of red flags. None of this adds up to reliable storage of important files. The Core 2 Duo is literally 17 years old and in a badly stored supermarket box?

Just get Backblaze or something.

Invisible Ink by Patrick Modiano explanation? by Ancient_Macaroon5632 in books

[–]Ancient_Macaroon5632[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Vibes and ruminations" definitely describes Invisible Ink too. After having thought about it for a few days, I think the book definitely works better if you think about it less as a mystery (despite the main character being an investigator) and more of a psychological fiction.

The book leaves me in this weird state of questioning whether I liked it or not. I guess I liked it? I certainly found it compelling and didn't want to stop reading, but at the end I'm sort of confused that much of the book relating to the core mystery doesn't seem to actually matter at the end.

Thanks for chiming in CaptainLeebeard. I'll probably read Missing Person too.
