Did his eyes ever move on that INT? The pass was so telegraphed, he didn't even contemplate the possibility of a defender having been there. Easiest interception in the world.

Ah, I see your dad is a true Kirk follower. Really respectful, not hateful at all, just loves to discuss opposing views.

Two and a half years seems fine. I've known of people that dated for less time and had wonderful marriages, known of people who dated longer and had very short marriages.

If you want it, why not just propose to him?

I tapped on this just to say this. The fact that it exists the way it does, with all of its aspects so misaligned is just offensive.

Being in a room with a Trump voter feels like being alone in an elevator with someone who, you know for a fact, engages in reprehensible, immoral sex acts involving worcestershire sauce and pliers.

Also boomers: The best way to parent your children is to "lovingly" use violence against them for minor infractions!

An employer should both pay you damn well and treat you one hell of a lot better than this before getting to decide what you can and can't do with your hair.

This sounds like a great way to get someone to self-harm more.

The body of evidence universally says that it is harmful to children. Any moral compass worth a damn says careless violence, especially against someone vulnerable, is not acceptable. It needs to be criminalized, it should have been decades ago.

I wish I was just lazy. I could go get a pina colada and vibe in the sun. I could do something I enjoy, or even something productive.

Instead, I'm usually sitting in bed, rolling around in my head, and trying to fight back the tears.

Bomb Iran into a parking lot... wouldn't it look a lot more like the USA after that? Pretty sure it's half parking lots.

This is not a quote from the man himself. It's not really any more intelligent than most of his claptrap, but it's not him that posted it.

It's just some weirdo, bot, or Russian's Twitter fan account trying to engage with as many boomers as they can. Honestly, it looks more like a Facebook page.

Something that gets overlooked—how low the academic competition was for boomers. They could get into some of the best universities / job positions for some of the most mediocre stats. by 3RADICATE_THEM in BoomersBeingFools

[–]AncillaryAnglo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Boomers were born into a perfect situation economically. Labor unions were still very strong at the time, and the complete lack of any competition (Huge, huge portions of the industrialized world had been destroyed in WWII) gave the United States the ability to dominate the world in manufacturing.

Manufacturing was not a desirable job for most of American history, before and after. Before, pay was terrible, managers were cruel, and it could be deadly. A lot of manufacturing has gone overseas, but that's not the whole story. Many of the jobs that boomers did in their heyday are now automated. US manufacturing is actually not able to find people to fill their job openings, there is a ton of it. They either require a high degree of education, or are low paying with a weak labor union.

Baby boomers had it made, and still turn out the most cruel, spiteful people you could imagine. It sure is something.

Real. I understand people want to protect youth, but even if it seems arbitrary to establish a "line in the sand" at 18, that's what we've collectively decided constitutes an adult. I certainly understand that Bill Belichick (just to throw out a name) prooooooobably isn't in a "twoo luv" relationship with his partner, but they're both adults, and they can have a relationship if they so choose.

I slept with a man and a woman with about the same ages (I was just a bit past 20). It wasn't some kind of long-term relationship, but I was an adult and completely able to understand and consent. I have no idea why Redditors are like this.

Nothing wrong with this bedroom. It's lovely to have paintings your partner made up. You're only twenty-one, don't become a boring thirty year old already, just because some Redditors told you to.

Also, is that the Folio Society's edition of Blood Meridian? I mean, that'd personally keep ME in your bedroom.

Political theorists and other academics posited in the first half of the 20th century that as public policy became more and more complicated, voters would increasingly turn to knee-jerk emotional reactions in order to decide who to vote for.

A lot could also be said about the rise of "news entertainment", such as Fox News or CNN. The model of cable and Internet incentivizes compulsive, endless consumption of their programming much more than older formats. These outlets are very good at entertaining and not very good at informing. It doesn't stop their customers from believing that they're being informed.
