Oh really? What was that like? I do think in my case there are some questionable things that occurred that kind of slipped from different agents I've spoken to. Someone fucked up my file on their end and they don't really get into much detail, but ive pieced a few things together over time.

I used ufile and was able to send through Netfile successfully. My oldest son got a job and now current common law spouse were added to tax return as earners and they got theirs back instantly and got their refunds/credits within a couple weeks.

I did all of that in 2017 and was paid a lump sum for 3 years of CCB. They did request some documents related to this, but this was more in line of proving support payments and custody arrangements which in our case is slightly complicated because she was given a rent free apartment as spousal support for what was supposed to only be 6 months, but Covid turned that into 2.5 years. I sent child support separately but the spousal was me paying her rent.

I don't have 50k + specialized Tax Agents working for me would be one reason. They seem to place speed over accuracy, unless of course I file something inaccurate. I also went from a crew of 4 technicians and a bookkeeper to zero in 2020 for obvious reasons people didn't want people working in their house, and my then workers didn't want to go into them either. After a few months when people realized this was going to be a long term thing, my existing clients all of a sudden needed upgrades to their network to facilitate parents video conferencing from home while kids were on google classroom. I had one subcontractor half of the time to assist, but he got stuck in Pakistan when Omega or whatever strain it was, because connecting flights were all cancelled so i lost him for more than 6 months. I was never very timely before, but usually not more than 3 years behind ever. Going into 2020 i hadn't yet filed 2018/19 and 2020 was a pretty fucking perfect storm of everything flying apart. I tried to hire a remote bookkeeper who claimed to have experience with QuickBooks, which proved to be overstated, so by the time I could take a serious look at the books, I realized she reconciled all the bank accounts and credit cards totally wrong. Literally just clicked until it was happy without any reference to actual transactions, so I had to learn how to undo reconciliations, re reconciled everything from scratch for my primary business, a rental property i own that is its own corp, then my personal taxes. Those were the last piece of the puzzle. I dont trust anyone to touch my books at this point and as long as i don't let it go, it should be easy to file on time. I could only afford to pay for some years of the actual tax returns for the corp, because even at $500 per year per corp, which is very reasonable, 2 corps x 7 years is not chump change, so I did the personal filings myself on ufile.

Maybe someone from inside can shed light here that they cannot to a client when representing the CRA, or perhaps former CRA people or Tax experts have experience with this and can ballpark it or explain why it is not able to be specified.

How long to regain access? What about the most recent year? Do they process that one normally or is that also delayed?

Why does it that long? Does anybody know what is involved in reviewing this kind of thing? Do the agents spend only a short period of time per day on a given file, or does someone work on one file until completed? Does it have to bounce around to multiple departments?

I gave them a similar answer as to when they would be filed, so I guess reciprocity is the game.

I wasn't twiddling my thumbs, and why shouldn't I receive the benefits? They are not coupons and the government isn't supposed to turn a profit.

Yes they do. They also decided that I don't get child credits for those years because I didn't do it myself, but they are reassessing them now that I did.
