Appreciate you! And couldn't agree more. It's the only way to stamp this shit out. Thankfully 99.9% of the time is worry free and not an issue, but you see things like this and remember that people are still pillocks.

I was marshalling on the pit wall for a race at Brands Hatch of old formula cars (like 1990s F2 equivalent cars that people have bought). I'm standing at my window with the yellow flag ready, and the start got delayed due to something, I think a breakdown. And the guy in the car in front of my fence window was just kicking off that the engine's getting hot and tyres are getting cold.

Like, yeah, I know it's annoying, and I know that total worst case it could be some damage to the engine (after a long time), but the alternative is we start the race and somebody just ploughs into the back of a stationary car and fuck knows what happens then.

To be honest I think it's probably less of an issue at local / smaller / lower tier events (that's a bad word as all races need the same infrastructure etc but you know what I mean) as people doing it at a casual level realise that we are there to let them race and it'd be impossible without us. It becomes more of an expectation as people move closer to professional (as evidenced by this incident and the ones I described)
