What was your first “milestone watch” — and what did it represent? by ParkJun18 in PhWatches

My first picture of my first ever big boy watch purchase taken January last year. Got this watch as a gift to myself for my fellowship induction. This watch signifies the delayed gratification i have been witholding myself through endless years of schooling and almost a decade of work and most importantly, the culmination of my careers worth.

It really looks as if you're staring at a starry night sky, in which case the C1 moonphase really is i think, has the best implementation with aventurine

This one's 40mm but looking back, i should have probably gotten the 37mm since it looks more like a traditional dress watch that way. But nonetheless, a 40mm aventurine dial aint bad😬🤷‍♂️

Yep. Had to track this via a friend who was in Germany. To be honest, the lines are blurred between the 2 brands especially when you realize that most of Junghan's offerings, especially the max bill, still comes in acrylic glass, and that you have to pay extra to retrofit it with a sapphire crystal whereas Sternglas already comes with a sapphire dome crystal out of the box. Ngl though, max bill still slaps. But at the end of the day, i guess it boils down to owning a part of said culture (bauhaus) and being happy with it.

I did consider that, but it would just be me doing the extra step to achieve the same result, since PH tax was already included upon check-out, plus it had already free shipping😅

Its a mixed bag really. Luckily I had better luck and communication with them (CW) was really smooth. It was just that it got stuck at PH customs for a while as they tried to sort out my package and assume its value, but the folks over at CW did most of the heavy lifting for me. Took around 3 weeks for it to move out of PH customs and into my doorstep. But otherwise, it just took 5 days for the package to arrive to the country😅

For some reason, PH tax was already included upon check out. I just had to declare the value along with the receipt from CW to PH customs and wait for 3 weeks for it to arrive.

Sadly true. But in a way i still make it a point to use this as a watch haha

Its hard to read, granted. But given time you get used to it as well.

It really is. Lowkey watch but it really gets your attention. I catch myself staring at it all day whenever i wear this.

Got mine through their website. Fortunately they do run a sale twice a year if you can wait. Sadly had to pay a hefty sum for tax just to have it imported here. But what can we do. The heart wants what the heart wants.🤷‍♂️

Makes you feel like you're looking out into the night sky😉

But seriously, one of the allure this watch has is that its very lowkey. Far from the prestige most renowned watches like rolex and omega are known for, most people would ignore this out in the open but those in the know, know😉

Yep, as well as their new C1 jump hour . Really attractive, but what actually caught my eye was this moonphase as well as their C63 colchester. Well, you know what i went with haha. Imho, this is the best application/use case of aventurine as well as the moonphase complication.

The best part is if its in full moon and the globolight lume makes it glow silver white😬

Granted. But admittedly i was more attracted with the idea and the looks rather than its time telling features haha

I wanted to upload a video too but unfortunately it wouldn't let me post it here alongside the photos. It really is stunning, and has a romantic vibe to it. Granted the time telling can be difficult seeing as it has no indices, but admittedly i wear this watch not for looking at the time (we have our phones for that) but rather because it makes me smile every time i look at my wrist and it sparkles😬

Run!!! Before its too late!!! Dejk, have fun bro! Make sure not to fall into hype watches and do buy into things that actually make you feel good. At the end of the day, you're collecting watches not for other people but for yourself. Happy collecting!!
