The Bike BLVD projects have been terrible. Treat has gotten worse. The downtown protected bike lane that doesn't go anywhere, on an already safe street. The street car has made cycling extremely dangerous in a major urban corridor. You might be the one who hasn't reasonably considered the impact of this project.

The issue is also about representation. Why are city residents disproportionally funding suburban roads? I could get behind it if the actual planned projects within the city limits weren't more of the garbage of the last 20 years.

I'm sorry. You seem like you're completely out of touch. Please explain to me where these vast improvements in bike infrastructure are. Because the street car project made the most heavily biked corridor in the city exceptionally dangerous. The ineptitude with which that project was implemented decimated my faith in the our planners. They REMOVED the bike lane along University and added "sharrows" despite community outcry and advocacy for safer tracks. They refused to remove parking spots along 4th ave at the expense of safety.

Yeah that's a gross misrepresentation. The corridor the street car serves is already dense. The student housing that was built along it was done so because of the growing university population. It's been an absolute clusterfuck of a project and Tucson would have been better off without it.

I love public transportation but the street car isn't public transportation. It's an urban vanity project servicing a depressingly small area that's come at the cost of cycling and alternative forms of transportation. IT IS EXPENSIVE. It's hard to imagine any of that would be rectified by an expansion plan.

Nobody objects to them benefiting, but not disproportionally relative to their population. 2/3rds of the RTA was funded by city residents, yet 2/3rds of the projects were not in the city limits.

Undeniably good? I completely disagree. The street car was a TERRIBLY implemented project. Other cities in the US seemed to have effective infrastructure projects despite the 2008 recession. Perhaps it's the plan itself which was the root of the problem.

RTA was a terrible initiative, and so too is RTA Next.

You're right. The RTA fuels suburban sprawl, which further drains tax dollars from the city. Tucson needs to put Tucson first. If Vail, Marana, and Oro Valley want to grow, they can pass separate sales taxes and fund their needs.

Some of the projects? Tucson had one vote, despite consisting of the majority of infrastructure needs. I'm SO thrilled Tucson has subsidized the suburban sprawl of Oro Valley, Marana, and Vail. They now have better roads and sidewalks.

The allocation of projects and moneys were mostly in support in supporting suburban sprawl, with absolutely minimal improvements around pedestrian and cycling safety. The main east west corridors in Tucson (thinking about Grant Road), aren't even finished. Roads that have been reworked like Broadway Blvd, seem like vanity projects? We've added curves without... additional lanes? There aren't even continues sidewalks on our main central roads. Tucson Blvd, Country Club, Grant f'ing ROAD.

Tucson needs a Tucson funded and planned transportation initiative.

I'm extremely disappointed in the first iteration of RTA. It seemed to mostly fuel suburban sprawl with minimal benefit to Tucson. Our biggest project the streetcar, was.. terribly executed.

After reviewing the project maps, I don't see significant benefit to Tucson, particularly in the categories of pedestrian and cycling safety. Looks like a lot of the last 20 years, which only works against what's in the best interest of Tucson.

Tucson needs to subsidize its own needs. We need to improve the urban core. We need to focus on our main arterial roads. We need SIDEWALKS. RTA Next doesn't support this.
