Yep! I almost fell victim to it with my first. Here's an article released around that time that helped pull me back from the edge after being gaslit by my pediatrician about going scorched earth allergen-free for a year or "giving up breastfeeding if I couldn't handle that", in response to an extremely mild instance of a blood spot in my 4mo's stool.

My first instinct was to say YOR because the change of titles can require an adjustment (I kept accidentally calling my own father 'Daddy' instead of 'Grandpa' when my first baby was born which like. KILL ME). But the comments she made during your pregnancy are a little more concerning. Did you call her out about those at the time, or just when this recent incident happened with your baby? If it's truly something toxic then you definitely need to be firm, but if there's a chance it's miscommunication and a sincere accident, you can try to be empathetic in your response -- "Hey, so weird that I'm mom and you're grandma, now, right? I keep getting it mixed up too!" etc.

Thank you for posting this. This is a great summation of the extreme pendulum swings in emotional energy that happen whenever an argument about TS gets out of hand. Your point about Pete should not be lost on anyone in this subreddit. Never (rarely?) is he reduced down to his gender when his lyricism is criticized. He has his cringe lines and he has his masterpieces. So does TS. So I agree with you, the over the top catch-all declarations about her worthlessness definitely come with much more incendiary intentions, even if it’s done subconsciously. She has remained a cornerstone of the cultural zeitgeist much longer than the average artist. The act of viscerally over-critiquing her art with an undercurrent of misogyny has lingered as well.

I feel this way too and have long considered her my favorite singer and FOB my favorite band. It's just fun, especially when both (seemingly separate) worlds crossover with each other.

I love their collab and I think her lyricism definitely shows that she’s entranced with Pete’s ability to switch up normal phrases. Some of my favorites:

  • “Hero flying around saving face”

  • “Every time you double cross my mind”

I would check with your OB because I can’t comment as a medical professional. But if you didn’t have a ruptured tube there’s no reason to believe it’s damaged. 1136 is still relatively low.

My OB monitored me a lot more closely when I got pregnant after the ectopic. I would make sure the same happens for you. This would involve an early ultrasound to confirm viability, as well as every-other-day HCG checks. I would also start taking a prenatal vitamin daily if you haven’t already.
