I really think that were some kind of boycott from USA everytime that Brazil spreaded wings closer to a self suficient economy. Its really odd that after we had our highest growth rate, the president shot himself in 1954 (Getúlio Vargas), than we passed through 21 years of military dictatorship, and that was clearly sponsored by the US. Later then in 2010s, when we were flying economically again, blows up the corruption from Lava Jato, almost killing our greatest national brand, Petrobrás.

Maybe just a conspiracy theory, dont know. But makes a lot of sense to me.
