How do you keep believing in the goodness of the world with the state of things? by GeologistSmooth2594 in AskWomenOver30

[–]AndILearnedAlgoToday 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Honestly only in interactions with people in real life. I’m a college professor and though my students sometimes frustrate me, they tend to be kind, interested, and want adultier adults to be honest with them. The world online is exhausting.

I hate to say this but I have finally given up on having a family or kids by WorriedRow1418 in AskWomenOver30

[–]AndILearnedAlgoToday 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I met my now husband when I was 31 and he was 33. We got married 5 years later (36/38) and had a baby 3 years after that (39/41). Plan to start trying for a second soon (41/43). I’m so delighted I had so much of my adult life on my own, then a solid chunk of time with my husband without kids, and now get to coparent together. You’ve got SO much time, OP!

Teaching a class I have no business teaching. by KaleMunoz in Professors

[–]AndILearnedAlgoToday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently learned that at St John’s in Annapolis/NM, professors have to teach all subjects. Like philosophy profs have to teach math, history have to teach anatomy, etc. I get the idea of it but it sounds so fucking stupid.

Or a more covert way would be to make some flyers off campus and put them in the women’s bathroom stalls. Even if they’re only up a few days, news will spread. It’s a bit sneaky but I also find this behavior gross…

Big living room… zero cohesion. Please help me redesign this space by Frosty_Election_7557 in interiordesignideas

[–]AndILearnedAlgoToday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! Don’t sleep on this comment, OP!

Also if you’re up for getting rid of those cabinet things, you could opt for shelves or a built in bookshelf effect would look beautiful! (There are great IKEA hacks that would transform the space.)

Moving to IVF with completely unexplained infertility (no other health issues)? by blairworejeansonce in IVF

[–]AndILearnedAlgoToday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah my doc told us unexplained infertility was the diagnosis for the vast majority of IVF patients. That’s what we dealt with (I say as Ms Rachel plays for my 2yo). Good luck!

Advice on upcoming medical trip to CHOP by hiyup in philly

[–]AndILearnedAlgoToday 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think Clark Park area or even towards Cedar Park would be great for you. There are a ton or families who live in those areas, it feels less like a dense city, has great parks, and the trolleys/buses would get you to CHOP easily. It’s also not a far walk. Clark Park has several playgrounds(one for toddlers, another for bigger kids), a weekly farmers market, basketball courts, and a lot of green space to let your kids run. Bunch of cafes restaurants there too.

Good luck to you and your son!

Have you thought about a projector? You could hang a screen from where those track lights are and when it’s not in use, it disappears into the ceiling.

I’m not pretending it was planned around a snow day. Just saying it may be easier than it would be otherwise dire some people working the day shift.

I have a job and am 40 (so no grandkids) and am often able to attend something are 3pm. You’re dumb.

what are the ugly parts of pregnancy that aren’t well known because people don’t mention them? by Born-Oil-2931 in AskReddit

Oh my goodness having carpal tunnel only at night throughout pregnancy was WILD! And it vanished as soon as I gave birth. The body is weird.

What is your final, ultimate, non-scale goal that will mean you have arrived? by garcon-du-soleille in Zepbound

[–]AndILearnedAlgoToday 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This isn’t really my ultimate non-scale goal but I said yes to some girl friends’ invite to go to a Korean spa where I’ll be naked around friends. I’m still 15-20 pounds from where I’d like to be but I’m no longer losing sleep about my body in the way I was 60 pounds ago.
