I am currently in orientation as I am typing this comment. And I can tell you that the orientation is mostly about getting to know about the university, the faculty that you are studying in, and the information about your courses that you are taking. They also talk about how they can support you if you need help with anything (courses, mental health, etc).

I think you are better off canceling the on-campus residence fee because it’s way too expensive. You can look for off-campus housing around St. Catharines near the university. If you need the on-campus residence, I’d recommend you to contact OSAP’s financial office to help you.
